Amazon Boosts Gaming Cred With Acquisition of Double Helix Games

Amazon has acquired Double Helix Games, a videogame developer formed in 2007 from the merger of The Collective and Shiny Entertainment, an Amazon spokeswoman confirmed. The studio recently co-developed the Xbox One exclusive Killer Instinct, a reboot of the fighting game series from the 90s first developed by Rare. TechCrunch first reported the deal, which could fuel more speculation that Amazon is developing a gaming console, since consoles often launch with exclusive games to differentiate themselves from competitors.
