Tesla Tamps Down Apple Acquisition Rumors

In an interview with Bloomberg Television on Wednesday, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk squelched the latest speculation that Apple might buy the electric automaker, calling any purchase “very unlikely.” On Sunday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported the company met with Apple’s head of acquisitions Adrian Perica last spring. Musk did acknowledge the company has talked with Apple, but declined to comment on the subject matter. He added: “We need to stay super focused on … creating a compelling mass market electric car. And I’d be very concerned in any kind of acquisition scenario, whoever it is, that’d we become distracted from that task which has always been the driving goal of Tesla.”
