Some of this fits into broad red-vs-blue stereotypes — there are few veterans in coastal California, Greater New York, or Greater Chicago. But you also see pockets of low veteran share in the Deep South, part of Appalachia, and a broad swath of Texas ranging from the Rio Grande Valley up through the Panhandle.
Meanwhile, Florida, Nevada, and Arizona all have a marked skew toward veterans — presumably because these are retirement hotspots and the median age of all veterans in the United States is 64.
