Chipmaker Nvidia said Monday that the U.S. International Trade Commission had voted to open an investigation into whether Samsung violated any of the company’s patents. Nvidia last month filed a federal suit alleging patent infringement as well as a complaint with the ITC. Those pursuing patent claims often raise issues in both venues, with courts able to issue injunctions and award damages, but the ITC having the power to ban imports of products found to infringe.
