Streaming Music Service Deezer Buys Podcast Service Stitcher

Peter Kafka covers media and technology, and their intersection, at Vox. Many of his stories can be found in his Kafka on Media newsletter, and he also hosts the Recode Media podcast.

Subscription music service Deezer has purchased Stitcher, the Web audio service that specializes in talk radio and podcasts. Deezer, which is best known outside the U.S. and is trying to break into the American market, says it will keep Stitcher’s Android and iOS podcast apps running as standalone products.
