Social Curation Service Sulia Shuts Down

Peter Kafka covers media and technology, and their intersection, at Vox. Many of his stories can be found in his Kafka on Media newsletter, and he also hosts the Recode Media podcast.

Sulia, a curation startup that went through several incarnations and ended up trying to be a “subject-based social network,” has shut down. “There were many many things that Sulia did better than any other platform,” says a message on the company’s home page. “But we learned that those things weren’t popular or lucrative enough for it to succeed as a business. That’s often the way it is with startups.” Sulia raised $10 million over several years.
