Mother Wants Uber to Pay for Crash That Killed Her Daughter

The mother of a 6-year-old girl struck and killed by an Uber-affiliated driver in San Francisco on New Year’s Eve wants the company held responsible for the accident, according to the San Francisco Business Times. Victim Sofia Liu’s mother, Huan Kuang, who was also injured in the incident along with her 5-year-old son, told the newspaper she is looking for legal representation and will seek compensation for medical bills and more. Complicating the issue is that Uber, which operates a mobile app connecting private drivers with customers in need of a ride, doesn’t officially employ its drivers.
