SpaceX successfully launched an upgraded Falcon 9 rocket on Monday from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and deployed a Thai broadcasting satellite shortly thereafter, USA Today reported. The third successful liftoff for the rocket should mean that Elon Musk’s private spaceflight company in Hawthorne, Calif., is clear to bid for Department of Defense and NASA launches. That added competition could help push down prices for future missions, the newspaper reported. Earlier plans for a Friday launch were delayed for unknown reasons.
