Digital Hollywood Breakup -- BermanBraun Now Just Braun

A shift at one of Hollywood's earliest digital media efforts.

In a statement today, Gail Berman, one half of the Hollywood digital, television and movie production company she created with Lloyd Braun in 2007, said she will be leaving BermanBraun.

The company said Braun “will become sole owner of the company by acquiring Berman’s interest.” For the time being, at least, the name will continue as BermanBraun.

The high-profile pairing of two high-profile entertainment execs has grown from four employees to over 150 today, doing a spate of digital projects for Microsoft, AOL and others. Their properties include celebrity site Wonderwall and also other categories.

Most recently, BermanBraun has partnered with AOL to “reimagine” its Moviefone site. That will include a new design and user experience, including new mobile apps and the bulking up of its social and content features.

AOL and BermanBraun have worked on several projects together, with the entertainment and digital production studio creating sites for men (Mandatory), pets (PawNation) and weather (Skye) for AOL.

“When Lloyd and I founded BermanBraun, we wanted to create a different kind of entertainment company — one that consisted of both TV and Film divisions but also one that established a thriving digital division encompassing content and technology,” said Berman in part in her statement.

Said Braun: “My partnership with Gail has been a wonderful experience, professionally and personally.”
