My Home Blog is: http://www.flowergardengirl.com/
This is my NC and I'll be showcasing a journey about gardens and areas of interest all over the South. Mostly this is for family who are interested in the mounds of info I have on genealogy reseach about our family. Those post will not be made public.
There will be just about everything here from cooking to eating at the best restaurants. There will be pictures of my art, flower gardens, home I designed and had built, and stories about ancestry. I also make quilts and make some of my own gardening clothes.
I've been gardening for over 40years. I had my first garden at 10yrs old and in some form or fashion grew both flowers and vegetables from that time to this. In those 40 years, I've worked in private and public gardens. I've gardenend from coast to coast but returned to my roots in 1994 after my husband retired from the Air Force. I live in the Piedmont of NC close to the Yadkin river where my ancestors first arrived in the area in the mid 1700's.
Married for over 30years and still love him with all my heart. We were both in the Air Force when we met. He wore whites and worked in a hospital and I wore fatigues and worked on the flightline. We met at the hospital where I had just been for a routine dr's appointment. He was the pharmacist and took my prescription. I was dressed in a typical NC Daisy Duke attire. I had on very short overalls and a short shirt. My voice was and is soft, slow, and very southern. He got my number off the pharmacy slip. That was 30 years ago. ( 2008) We met in April of 1978 and got married in July 1978. They were good overalls.
We just built our dream home. It's about 2,700 square feet of craftsman and cottage mix. I designed it from childhood memories. My grandmother and great aunt influenced my childood and they lived in these kind of homes. The warmth and fun of those old houses stayed with me. I love big front porches because of the many hours spent with these two women on those porches while talking and snapping beans---- I had to have a house that passed these memories to my children. My children are grown but they still come home and we enjoy those porches the most.
I hope you enjoy this blog. I'm glad you are here and I do read every reply. Hopefully you will leave with a smile on your face and laughter in your heart. I hope I made your day!
My job:
I create container arrangements with a unique twist. My container arrangements are unique and always have something unusual added. I also do landscaping on a small scale.
Proven Winners has ask me to do a few articles for them. They will appear on their website www.provenwinners.com. I am one of their field test representatives. There are articles about growing conditions and what plants work well for your area. I test plants in my garden for the upcoming season. The following Spring, you can purchase those plants and read reviews about those plants by me.
