Senses are four men from the heart of England. What instruments they play isn't really important; it's what they play together that is.
Senses haven't got a date when they were established, or Senses has been something that they've grown up with. Senses' love of music is planted in their childhood. Senses all went to school together and very soon started sharing CDs, Vinyl and mixtapes of their favourite songs and bands. With nothing else to do and a room full of music equipment they were encouraged to start playing. So that's what they did. But they didn't start with covers, they just set about writing and recording their own material.
Senses sound has evolved and keeps evolving with their constant gig/recording ethos. It's a sound hard to pigeonhole but easy to lose yourself in. Senses juxtapose other-worldly beauty and urban decay, making it sound like you're eavesdropping a conversation between Heaven and Earth, a sound touched with dark and light. Senses aren't shoegazing they're stargazing.
2007 was good to Senses. June saw Senses release their debut single on Shifty Disco as a download. This went on to be the labels biggest selling single. Following on from the single release, Radio 2 in the shape of Janice Long invited Senses in for a live session. Senses played three songs and chatted with Janice, prompting a message from one caller describing them as "the best new band in the UK!"
Constant gigging in venues such as Birmingham Academy, Liverpool Barfly, Leicester Charlotte, Coventry Colosseum and The Dublin Castle and seen the Senses develop their live sound and spread their sonic psalms.
With momentum building Senses went in to record with Gavin Monaghan (Editors, The Twang and millions of others) at Magic Garden studios in October 2007, an immense experience, the results of which you can hear here....Senses are set to return to the Studio to work on their Debut early 2008.
