Ms. Mary Taylor -
I started my 'terroir' career in a cheese shop in Concord, MA. Continued this obsession while completing a literature degree from Boston College. Moved to New York to be an assistant to a Nobel Laureate. Was more moved by great Burgundy and reading Proust, Celine, Hesse. Ended up working at wine auctions - cataloguing old cellars. Read through Dostoyevsky. Managed a wine retail shop for 2 years - while getting through Don Quixote. Now finished some Hardy and getting onto Henry James. Living in France and New York - back and forth, to be close to the origination of wine. The soil. Like Throreau: I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, to discover that I had not lived.
