eucatastrophe n. eucatastrophic [ < Gr. eu, "good" and catastrophe Coined by JRR Tolkien.] 1. (in a narrative) The event that shifts the balance in favor of the protagonist when all seems lost. 2. A happy ending.

Eucatastrophe Reader will be my attempt to distill what I am learning on a daily basis, particularly as it regards my work as a teacher of college students, high school students, and my sons and their friend. As Socrates put it, "the unexamined life is not worth living". If he were around today, he might add that the unexamined book is not worth reading, the unexamined movie is not worth watching, the unexamined class is not worth taking, the unexamined lake is not worth kayaking, and the unexamined best friend is not worth pounding on" .... or something like that.

Each day, I hope to take a few moments to clarify for myself and who ever gets invited in that which made the day worth the cost of my tuition in life. We''ll see what becomes of it. I hope you will take a moment to add your thoughts when they have the potential to increase the meaning content of the report.
