I'm happiest when I'm creating something beautiful, whether it's a poem, a drawing, a scarf, a web site, or a necklace. For a long time I've struggled from medium to medium, berating myself because I wasn't writing "enough" (or at all), I wasn't making "enough", I wasn't meeting the goals that I had set for myself. But I've started to realize that just like people change, goals should be allowed the freedom to change over time. I'm slowly learning to do what I want to do, and to release the guilt I feel whenever I realize I'm not doing what I wanted to do six months ago. As a result, the focus of this space, along with any online or offline space I keep, will shift over time as my interests shift over time. One month my obsession may be poetry or fiction; another month I may play with watercolors or obsess over various crafts. It's freeing to accept that my identity isn't fixed, but fluid like a river - always the same person, but showing different aspects of myself at any given moment.
