I'm Lana Lawrence, a working photographer in the Washington D.C. Metro area, specializing in political event photography and photojournalism on Capitol Hill and around D.C. My work has appeared in several publications and has been exibited in institutions such as the Library of Congress. I am also the Director of Photography at the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum next to the Senate Hart Office Building and direct the Digital Imaging Program there.
My photographic interests include people and politics, human rights, women in history, fine art, alternative processes, digital imaging, and preservation of historic images. I also enjoy large format photography when times allows. I work mostly in color (digital), however my preferred medium for fine art is black and white (although color Poloraid transfer images are an old favorite). I also enjoy learning more about the craft from colleagues and other photo enthusiasts, as well as teaching students digital imaging in a museum setting.
I hope to use this photoblog to augment my regular homepage, at http://www.blogphotog.com -- which I never seem to have the time to update. . . . Getting "focused" on this site will perhaps help inspire me to share my work more often.
