Durjoy (Ace) Bhattacharjya is a NYC-based marketing and technology strategy consultant. Born in Boston, Ace lived all over the country before moving to Wellesley Hills, MA to finish high school. He likened his experience to the movie "Running on Empty", but research has found this to be an exaggeration. The Wes Andersen film "Rushmore" is said to be a more accurate depiction. After graduating in International Relations / Economics from Boston University, Ace began his career by helping to market one of the first cellular phone systems in South Asia. This marked the first of a long list of attempts (some successful and others less so) to market new and emerging technology. Ace moved to NYC in early 1995 to discover that his computer knowledge, formerly a social disadvantage, were now in demand. He also discovered that his people skills, formerly a disadvantage in technology, were now in demand to speak to the people whose technology skills were in demand. After stints at a setup box company and a well-known fashion house, Ace joined Corporate America at the advertising giant Ogilvy and Mather where he was responsbile for the IBM Business Partner website. During his tenure at Ogilvy, Ace also realized a lifelong dream to "be part of the Detroit auto industry" by producing the uber-corporate site Ford.com. But once it was built, Ace realized that Detroit (and most of their cars) weren't really that great. After a painful introduction to kidney stones, Ace founded the consumer healthcare software company medicalrecords.com to help regular people store, manage and share their personal health information. Ace now works with advertising companies as a marketing and technology strategy consultant. His random knowledge of obscure data has been somewhat useful for a wide variety of companies including: BMW Motorrad, Pfizer, Maybach (Mercedes Benz), Starwood Hotels, Jetblue and Smith Barney. Most of Ace's marketing solutions involve telling the client to "be more authentic". He notes that although roughly 50% of his ideas fail miserably, it is still "significantly better than people with no ideas at all". Fautly statistics aside, clients usually appreciate his innovative and insighttful approach to marketing. In 2001, Ace married the lovely (and usually disapproving) wife Usha. To put their relationship in perspective- Usha deeply dislikes cold weather, but agreed to go to Iceland for their honeymoon only if they would go to see the flowers first in Amsterdam.
