In the news from Wales: A 72-year-old man who was cleared of killing his long-term partner two months ago has died.... Former lorry driver Mr Henton claimed he found Mrs Sutton dead after discovering the back door window of the property had been smashed. He then called the police. Mr Henton was charged after officers secretly recorded largely solitary conversations with cats Twinkie and ...
So quite some time ago we started having problems here at work with people not cleaning up after themselves. It prompted my store manager to leave that big note on the fridge door. Now, months later the thing smells disgusting and people aren't cleaning up their messes. I was so grossed out that I used my legendary stationary to leave my own note. It's been there for two weeks. As you can see,...
So, I caved: i purchased 3 HansiGurumi patterns today. I know, I know... I have the longest queue EVER and more UFOs than Area 51... but..but... there are SQUID!!!! I also had to purchase some yarn, because, well, we have no family car so no trips to the yarn store after work for me! I got a few skeins of Comfy, since I'd been wanting to try it. Patterns have been emailed to me - I can't wai...
Frankenshoes: Azzedine Alaia open sandals with lace up front
clipped from www.thefashionpolice.net Reported by Orla, these Azzedine Alaia shoes are £705 worth of lace-effect leather and, er, not much else. For some reason, we find ourselves thinking of insects every time we look at them, perhaps because we're pretty sure that if spiders had feet, this is what they'd be wearing on them. Rich spiders, obviously: normal spiders clearly wouldn't be ...
I finally finished this painting. It was only a few more hours of work but I had put it off for so long I wasn't sure if I would actually get it done. I am happy with the way it turned out. I wasn't sure if I would like making a rose without making it look perfectly like a real rose; I figured I would ruin it in trying to make it slightly abstract, but I am happy to say that I didn't ruin it. ...
Here's the milk carton greenhouse-top attached but not visible in photo, the top is usually on and in early days was taped shut. Thats a package of forget-me-not seeds in there, will transfer them to garden this week. Those are tomato plants in the center and holly hocks in the lower picture, totally fun hobby!
Saturday in Win's garden, the clematis is now in flower... and the Asiatic Lilies that Ruth planted are at their best... On Sunday there were more opportunities for taking photos when Dimmer and Jo invited me for lunch at their new home. Their friend Doreen was invited too. More pictures here.
pointless navel-gazing minutiae, part one: my desk
The kids are working on something that will take them most of the day, so I'm "babysitting" the process. Therefore I can't go do Very Useful Things, or they'll get distracted and start squabbling. So I'm here at my desk, making them work in my bedroom because it's warmer than the rest of the house, and because, you know, I get to sit at my desk. I love my desk. All the pictures are 900 pixels w...
For the past few days, Oliver (that's him above) has refused to relieve himself outside unless I'm with him. He's tied out on a run. Today I finally found out what was going on. Our tree swallows have come back and are living in the birdhouse on the garage. Last year they dive bombed poor Ollie, and I think now he's afraid of them. We've switched doors so he can go outside through the fr...
Well I moved into a new apartment on the 29th of April. Spent a few weeks gathering up some furniture. Couch, kitchen table, desk, etc. Next up is a bed. Sleeping on an air mattress is wreaking havoc with my spine But once I moved in. My computer woes began. I have two laptops. The first of which has a broken screen (due to a rather unhappy meeting between my heel and my laptop when i was...
