This is a must for anybody who liked The Screaming Trees and Afghan Whigs - both being bands that were active in but never acheived the recognition they deserved in the Grunge movement of the early nineties. Greg Dulli (The Whigs) and Mark Lanegan (The Trees) teamed up to release an album called Saturnalia which I feel rivals their earlier work. This is a video I with forethought of intention nicked from another Youtube devotee (sorry Drivel1). If this is the first time you have come across these two then I would recommend that you listen to the Afghan Whigs album 'Gentlemen' and the Screaming Trees album 'Sweet Oblivion'. Both albums follow the grunge treadmill of angst and anger (is that a tautology?) but I personally think that they have greater gravitas than their more popular counterparts. Also check out Deus Ibi Est by Lanegan and Isobel Campbell. Incidentally, the cellist on this track is the South African Simone Vitucci who was also a performer with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra... just thought you should know.
A funky song, in a good way. Well actually, I wouldn't say that it's in a good way, but I'm consistently listening to it. --And Santa? I'll be expecting him in my next nightmare.
