I've found my favourite TV character. Many of my friends would think it is Carrie from Sex and the City. But someone beats her to the top spot...just.
Ross from Friends.
I'm watching him on E4 now and his character is just hilarious.
Here are a few of his funnier lines...
"First divorce: wife's hidden sexuality, not my fault. Second divorce: said the wrong name at the altar, kind of my fault. Third divorce: they shouldn't let you get married when you're that drunk and have stuff drawn all over your face, Nevada's fault."

And who can forget the leather pants, the fajitas, the life-long love of Rachel, Marcel the monkey, the fake tan, the teeth-whitening. Plus, there's so much more.
Definitely my faourite TV character of all time.

Who else thought this? The Jaquie Brown Diaries is the funniest new comedy of 2008! Snappy writing, almost perfect timing, good casting. Brown, playing herself, is a natural at a sitcom. (And from my infrequent encounters, she is very humorous in real life.) This might even be exportable—maybe back to Brown’s British homeland? It would work there.
The rapper interview was hilarious.
TV3 needs to do a far better job promoting it, mind.
I suspect I may possibly have had a Proms overload these past few days. Last year I attended around about four concerts. I've attended as many in the first week this year.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not being smug about it. Just really did think I ought to make the effort this year given that I spend so much time banging on about to all and sundry. What I fear now is that I'm boring myself even thinking about them. Maybe I need a night off.
I had originally thought I'd write something after every concert but, to be completely honest, by the time I've finished attending, travelling home or listening to a gig then ruminating about it I'm pretty much a) sick of the Proms and b) keen to go to sleep.
Consequently, all I'd like to say in reference to the end of the first week of the Proms is that I've enjoyed them very much thus far - First night Strauss Festival Prelude, Messiaen organ stuff on Monday and definitely the Vaughan Williams from Prom 10. The cup-of-tea-all-over-my-jeans incident in the bar before the first Prom is now a distant memory. With only sixty-five other concerts to go before the end of the season you'll all be pleased to hear that I promise not to go on about them too much longer. *
* Unless of course you take a look at my Flickr account. I figure it's OK for me to obsess about the Proms there.

Every now and then a friend of mine from the other side of the world sends me a link of an item that moved him or her, that link sparked something with in them and they choose to take the time and spread their thought and emotions regarding that event. Today a dear friend took the time to send me a link to an on-line powerful documentary about the interlinks between Christianity, 911, education, media, The Federal Reserve and much much more. the movie titled ’Zeitgeist - the spirit of time’ and it’s a document which was first aired on Google video on December 2007 and already won The best documentary award in the Artivist film festival in Hollywood 2007.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelpia is coming back next week for yet another "did they really just say that?!" season. In the last few seasons they tackled heartwarming topics like dumpster babies, masturbating bums, steroid use, and the ever popular "The Gang Goes on Welfare."
It's crude, over the top, generally inappropriate, and totally hilarious. Here are the promos for this season:
Well, it was a CSI episode. You know, it's that one where some naive, well-meaning Yale-going upper class Latina reporter rubs elbows with EVIL GANGBANGING FUNNY MUSIC LISTENING ILLEGALS and gets killed. Oh, and there's a prostitution ring, but we don't have time to do more than use it as a hilarious "find the body!" opener. Oh man, did I just ralph?
Now I'm watching Video Yearbook: Warped Tour '07 edition! Fucking Warped Tour! I'm not one of those punk purity hand-wringers or anything, but come on. I thought even pop punk was supposed to at least do some anti-commercialism posturing. "Van's Warped Tour is proud to annouce Kia the official vehicle of Vans' Warped Tour! Come visit the Kia booth for a free keychain!" Anyway, I kind of secretly love Warped Tour music. Yes, it's all forgettable derivative puerile crap. It's not at all hip or insightful. I can't explain it. Let's forget about it and watch some videos! Fuck! I feel like swearing today. Shit!
1. Face Down by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. What the fuck is a red jumpsuit apparatus? Oh, this is that song about not abusing your wife/girlfriend/whoever. I guess I'm supposed to be all "Hooray, someone actually gives a shit about women," but these guys all seem like douchebags. In fact, something about this really bugs me, but I can't articulate it. I guess, for one, that I'm sick of straight white dudes being the only ones who are consistently able to say anything about sexism/racism/heterosexism while maintaining a moderately large fan base. Oops, video's almost over! Plus, this (pretty! young! conforming to Warped sartorial conventions!) woman is just sitting around looking depressed as things break around her. At the end, she throws out some pictures of her abusive male companion. Big whoop. God, I wish I had the ability to explain why these guys are all such gigantic fucking douchebags.
2. Something by New Found Glory Who fucking likes New Found Glory? WHO? Douchebags, douchebags, douchebags. This video would be neat-looking if they got rid of the band, though. Oh, now Lead Singer is up in heaven in a chicken suit playing an acoustic guitar as some guy in an old lobster costume from The Amanda Show dances behind a SEXY LADY in a SEXY DRESS who is SEXILY SUCKING ON A LOLLIPOP. Douchebags!
3. Saying Sorry by Hawthorne Heights Everything's white, close-ups on a bunch of women dressed up like the Queen of Narnia. Time to space out.
4. Emergency by Paramore Well, at least this band has a girl in it. Too bad she has to writhe around in a dirty white dress. I think she's singing about a dude. Well, at least she's not sucking on a fucking lollipop. I'm sick of paying attention. Hey, did I miss some videos? Oh, who cares.
5. Staring At The Rude Bois by Gallows Socially-stunted young butch lesbos? I guess this is right down my alley, but the video is just a bunch of dudes moshing in a...train? Oh, and now some guy is rapping. Hey, I think I saw a woman in the mosh pit! Oh, maybe not.
6. A Taste Of Ink by The Used Aw, the boys of the Used have it so hard. Look at them in convenience stores and dingy basements, leaving their parents behind in those ranch style homes! They are making empty statements about hungry people! They are deep! Ooh, chick sighting! Pretty blonde convenience store clerk. Porn magazine! Girl on a bike outside. Wow, even a couple of girls in the audience. I guess the point of this song is that they're all going to mosh away the memories of their meaningless, petty loser lives.
Show's over! I give up. I'm going to go get an ice cream bar, or something.
I love this show, and even more so now because of this advert.

Late Monday, my editor casually mentioned she was having dinner with McDreamy that night. Of course, all of us interns and some sales people squealed with delight and jealousy. Who wouldn’t want to have dinner with a hot TV doctor? Apparently, not her because the next day she told us she skipped the meeting. She was running late and didn’t want to interrupt the other editors vying for his attention (my words, not hers). Later that day, one of the other interns told me that the editor had asked if she wanted to go to the dinner, and she had turned it down. Are all these people crazy?! If I had said something, I’m positive my editor would have sent me in her place. I was thisclose to having dinner with McDreamy Monday night. If only I had said something…

]]>A little bit up, a little bit down, that's the best way to describe the seventh series of Smallville. The intense intra-character interactions that define a lot of the core aspects of the show have been great in places and not-so-great in others. I gotta admit, I was reserving judgement a little, and in the first couple of episodes of the series was pretty non-committal about the whole thing. That all swung around mid-season, building up gradually from it's weak start, and now the crescendo is building for a tantalising finale.
I'm currently on episode 19, with only one more to go. For a moment, watching episode 18, my imagination went away with me and I started imagining all sortsa endings for the season involving CK back on Krypton. It was especially gratifying to see foreshadows of the future Clark used in the tail end of the episode. A nice touch. Another satisfying touch, has been the steady growth of Lex's dark side and his descent into the evil meglomaniac we know he will be. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this next season, plus a resolution to Clana and the emergence of Lois & Clark.
Lastly, it would be remiss of me not to mention the soundtrack this season, which, always good, has been excellent with haunting tracks and lyrics from Lifehouse, Missy Higgins and Vast, but to name a few. I can't wait to see what season 8 brings.

Estelle Getty has died—farewell to The Golden Girls’ Sophia.
Although her character was the oldest, I think Estelle was one of the youngest actresses in the cast. She was 84 at the time of her passing, but 20-plus years ago, her character’s age was in the 80s.
I’ll remember her well for The Golden Girls and not for Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.
