I got this in Burlington the other day. I am a big Emmylou Harris fan and I'm really enjoying this one. It's a bit twangy but at least three tracks of this were recorded in Montreal with the McGarrigle sisters (Rufus and Martha Wainwright's mother and aunt). Oh, and a duet with Dolly Parton (well, she sings backup on it, but it's so obviously her).

This was one of the very first albums I bought as a young adult: I was 17 when it came out and I had been visiting my Dad in Washington, DC for the summer when I came across it in a record store. I got the CD and wore that thing out. Anyway, as things go, I lost it or lent it out and I haven't heard most of the tracks since the early 90s. Still a GREAT album! I miss all those "social activism" songwriters of the 70s and 80s. To be honest, I think that Tracy Chapman's albums are a bit spotty and fairly inane at times, but this entire album is excellent.

These guys were interviewed on Fresh Air a couple weeks back and I almost turned it off since I thought it was hip-hop or electronica (which I'm not into), but since I was at the gym on the treadmill, I couldn't just stop it so easily. I just kept listening and when they started playing a few tracks. WOW. It is such excellent music. And everything: the singing, the lyrics, the mish-mash arrangements. Really catchy and interesting stuff. I've listened to this album about 100 times since last week.
