There are times when I feel that I'm living in the wrong generation. If I had the choice, I think I'd prefer to live in the 80's at the least (anything later than that will be too unbearable for me.).
Come to think of it. Hippie, peace-loving days, 1 peso allowances, beat-up VW vans, disco nights, and I'd probably even consider donning big hair and polkadots. Whenever my parents tell me stories back in the "good old days", their faces would always light up in that distinct way, that you could tell that those days were really happy. I do feel jealous of them. Things seemed a lot more simpler back then.
I wonder if it would be the same feeling for me, when the time comes that I'd have to tell stories about my youth to my future, hypothetical children. I wonder if my face will light up in that same way.
I hate it that I've gotten too attached to technology. Or maybe, there are days when I just hate technology. Internet, email, instant messaging, all that techie shiznit. I know their supposed to "connect" people and make the world smaller and all that. But, there are days when I just wished all those things didn't exist.
I mean, yeah they do help people communicate across oceans and bulubundukins or whatnot, but it's not the same, still. I hate how we don't even hear people's voices anymore, but we hear our fingers typing manically on keyboards instead. Laughing itself is replaced by a :)) with a yellow, bobbing head, or how "i love you" is just something we type instead of something we say. I hate how wordsandwordsandWORDS in all their ARIAL 12 typefaces fail to express what we really feel, or how tiny yellow smiley faces are supposed to represent your existence, that you're there. But are you really there, or HERE? Or are we just all merely a bunch of 1's and 0's these days, floating around in non-existence?
What I hate the most is that I'm a victim, and I can't help it.
