What question do you hate being asked? I don't hate the question exactly, and I know that it comes with the territory, depending on where I am. Maybe it's the teacher in me, but I see it as an obligation to help to educate people for the sake of my covered sisters who don't know how/are too shy/lack...
My new addition to the Futurama family: WOO! I can't wait to watch it tonight with commentary. Wait ... why wait until tonight. I'm doing this RIGHT NOW. Well, after I post this. This is the Parallelograms Scarf (no, really?) from Knitting New Scarves. The whole thing, 70 inches worth, only took two...
so in a few minutes ill be off to work. here is an old but now renewed scarf that is in my shop the pictures are really really good. hmmmm I was gonna right more but now well I don't feel like it PS I found a tape of time lapses I shot on the way to Jackson Hole about 3 or 2 years ago. Pretty...
Green is not my best color, but I had to show off my vintage mobius scarf! Non-edited to show the great colors of the scarf...and my freckles.
I just found a new source of entry titles. Big win. Being Wednesday, it seems appropriate for a What's On Your Needles Wednesday kind of thing. Here are my two go-to projects of the moment: Like any knitting DW fan, I am making a must-have scarf. Based on Four's season 12 scarf. It's about five or...
File this one under "WTF?". Dunkin' Donuts has pulled an online advertisement featuring Rachael Ray after complaints that a fringed black-and-white scarf that the celebrity chef wore in the ad offers symbolic support for Muslim extremism and terrorism. The coffee and baked goods chain said the ad...
Yeah ... well sort of. I finished writing my thesis, but I just got back a list of revisions from my advisor today. By the end of the day Thursday I'll have my revisions taken care of, and apparently I can defend next week. *fingers crossed* I kind of have to defend next week if I plan on getting it...
So, recently Dunkin Donuts pulled Rachel Ray ad. "Why?" you may ask yourself did they do that. Well, if it wasn't for one particular conservative news reporter/blogger (Michelle Malkin) the ad would had ran forever unnoticed. What was it about the ad that was soooo controversial? I'll give you a...
*note: there are a couple of links in this post that link to my projects list in Ravelry. If you aren't a member of Ravelry you won't be able to see them but if you are, well, there ya go. this may or may not be the reason i have frogged the beginnings of a lace scarf about ten times now. i finally...
I have decided to take it upon myself to make a scarf in leu of the Fourth Doctor. I think I posted at some point about buying the yarn I needed to make it happen. Well, tonight I'm finally giving it a go. To be honest, though, I've started and restarted a handful of times already, because I wasn't...
The last few days have been filled with music theory to degrees beyond most human comprehension. I liked it. Now I'm back to putting off the writing of my thesis by knitting. Here is what I cast on today: The pattern is Lopi Lace Scarf from Weekend Knitting. I picked this book up on a whim a few...
It's so hard not to buy yarn that I "could use, someday, for some project - it's so pretty!" I made the mistake of subscribing to PurlSoho's newsletter, with goings-on, sales, new products, etc. Every so often they send me e-mails full of beautiful new yarn that I would just love to have... but, it...
So, I didn't get quite as much spun this weekend as I was hoping to as I just wanted to laze around instead! But, I did get a TON of pictures taken for all of the hand knits that I need to add to my Kitty Grrlz Knits shop and also did get some yarns spun. First, here are a couple shots of the hand...
I think I'm going to take apart the scarf that I had been working on. It's almost done...but I think I want it in a different stitch. It's ribbed now and I think I want something a little softer, like a seed stitch. It's a lot to undo and then do all over again...but I think it's what I really want.
Not sure if I have mentioned previously but I live in a pretty Muslim neighbourhood in Sydney. That is not the reason I am wearing my scarf on my head in this photo. I had actually forgotten my umbrella and was trying to prevent my hair from getting wet and frizzy in the rain. I was making the same...
“Sa Nayon natin we need to revive because napapabayaan natin ang mundo. We need to convert everything to bring it back to life.” - Erik Iglesia “It is now the start of global warning, we need to lessen pollution and save our Mother Earth.” - Cheryl and May Grace “By showing the art and the...
I have had a lovely birthday week! Friends and family calling and emailing. Sending cards and gifts. Just lovely! These photos were taken of my reflection in the mirror, so there is a lot of refracted light. I've been doing a lot of profiles, so I thought I'd give you a straight on view. My daughter...
