Pity so many of us believes that the idea of Global Warming is all a bunch of Bull-Shite. When they talk to others about their thoughts and the idea,.. it makes those who don't know any better, continue to turn their eyes and ears even when presented with scientific evidence which supports it.

Revisiting Coachella 2008 Music & Arts Festival

Here's a black-and-white photostream of a killer light installation featured at this year's Coachella Arts/Music Festival in Indio, CA. The photos are all from the same position, but developed with different exposure and image settings.

Most camera-toting, Sahara--bound, Festival-goers paused en route to the tents to absorb comprehensively this luminous and photogenic art display. Most camera-toters also put the shutters to good use, snapping liberally... And why not? The light installation was another winner on the Coachella '08 bill.

So... here are a few snaps from me.

Btw... Is it wrong that I constantly feel like I'm "revisiting Coachella"?

I think - and hope! - Not.

morocco, continued...

so here's the short version of Morocco:

I lived in Rabat's medina with the most amazing family. I lived with two sisters and their niece. They provided me with all of my meals and the food was delicious. The first day I told one of my host mothers, Zakia, that I loved potatoes and for the next week she prepared potatoes differently for me every day. Zakia is incredibly sweet and makes delicious food. She makes fresh bread daily and makes her own jam for breakfast.

-Temara...
is a city close to Rabat with a beach. Unfortunately, we missed our bus stop and ended up getting dropped off in front of a large grocery store. It was like the Moroccan version of Costco. SO many free samples! There was even a guy in traditional Moroccan garb sitting on a pouf with a tray of glasses and a traditional Moroccan tea pot. We all stocked up on food and continued on to the beach. We walked through tons of cactus. A random guy offered to take us to the beach and refused to accept our money when we offered to compensate him. The beach was beautiful and we got there just in time for sunset.

-Magic Park...
is an amusement park on the Salé side of the river. It's really meant more for young children, but there were still some rides for us. We spent most of our time on the bumper cars.

-Chefchaouen...

Chefchaouen

is in the northern part of the country and all of the buildings are painted in blue and white. It's known for lots of marijuana use and it's nearly impossible to go through the city without someone asking if you want to smoke. I mean, even our waiter at dinner asked if we wanted to buy some hash. We spent our first day there walking around the city and hiked up to one of the mosques on the hills above Chefchaouen. Then we decided to hike up one of the

mountains. Unfortunately, we only made it half way up. We had to stop because the sun was setting, but I did the entire thing in my flip flops. We were climbing vertically too! I take this as a sign that I've been in Africa too long. Anyway, the next day we went to the Kasbah and basically relaxed after our long, arduous hike.

-Casablanca

We made a short daytrip to Casablanca to see the Mosque, which is pretty much the only tourist attraction in the entire city. Casablanca's mosque is one of only a handful in the world that non-Muslims are allowed to enter. We went on the guided tour. The inside of the mosque is equally as beautiful as the outside. The ceiling is covered in carved wood and can open during good weather. There are a bunch of fountains downstairs for people to wash before praying that are shaped like flowers.

My last weekend in Morocco, two of my friends and headed to Marrakesh on the 3am night train Saturday morning to join a tour group heading in the desert. We were late meeting and had to pay a bit extra to get another car to meet up with the caravan. The drive was horrendous. The road through the Atlas Mountains is quite twisted and complicated. We made it through in a fraction of the time it normally takes people. We went so fast that all of us got carsick and my friend puked out the window twice. I'm running low on time, so here's pictures of the desert. Trust me, it was awesome.
