Just another quiet day for...

Just another quiet day for me. I'm back on track for my calorie plan. I ate 1, 511 calories which is under what sparkpeople says I can have but it is 100 more than I wanted to eat for my "In it 2 win it challenge".

My offical weigh in was today and I basically maintained form last week's weigh in. Rather annoying that my body is playing games with me. It needs to just drop weight already!

I played around with this photo in Photoshop. I decided to try out some different lighting effects and I framed this purely on accident. I like it!

OK, I love cover songs...

OK, I love cover songs ( WIKI )

That said, I like to go to websites and download various cover songs - often these sites offer 'albums' of songs with specific themes.

Here are 2 CD Covers (i-pod artwork) for 2 such albums.

RADIOHEAD COVERS: This one is the 'better' of the two - I took a clipart pic of an old radio, and photoshopped it onto the face of a random teenager wearing headphones (also clipart) - then did some 'quick and dirty' text treatments. I don't like to get too fancy with the text. (get it... RADIOhead...)

WEEZER COVERS: This one is a bit more fun - I took 4 different pictures of the Toy Story 2 Character "Wheezy" and recreated the Weezer 'blue' album cover - Wheezy's height and different poses (the original weezer cover has everyone in the same 'arms at their side' pose) proved a bit troublesome... but actually, I think it adds to the whimsy.

State-of-disrepair

i have been trying to make my depression tangible for a long time.
if i could just visualize it, i could conquer it.

this is my father's backyard.
the house i grew up in is in shambles. nature has taken over and slowly destroyed everything.
this house has become a metaphor for my emotional state. of what will happen if i simply avoid my problems and let life happen to me instead of making my life.
aside from being the first time i've gotten excited about photography in years, the first series i've done for even longer, and the first time i've explored color and the capabilities of photoshop, this piece serves as a constant reminder to me.

don't give up. don't lose hope. don't let life pass you by. take control over your life. make it.

none of these photos were modified except for adding a vignette, the coloration, and the highlights and shadows. the window photo was cropped ever so slightly. this is the first time i've ever done anything like this. constructive critism is a good thing.

The background for the image was created by using recycled envelopes (the kind that have bills in them and those way cool lines all in the inside) I cut these envelopes into squares (awhile back) collaged them added some paint and scanned it into my computer and used the invert command in photoshop. The face is a photograph of a doll I found at an antique store. The hair was liquified and the wings and stamps in the background are some stamps I have in photoshop.

The idea to do this came from the book Nature Smart. I trimmed some trees from our yard (we have many) and stacked and tied them against the tree with my kids. I dare not enter this fort there are many traps inside.

After building this fort, my kids played awhile and I finally got around to painting my kitchen chairs. It has taken me almost 5 years to finally do it! The chairs were horrifically dirty. I need to replace the cushions - they were positively the worst! So many stains from spilled milk, juice, whatever. I think I might find an oil cloth to cover the cushions I'm not sure.

I now need to connect myself with the world and check the news. Many gracious thanks for stopping by and reading.

Every now and then I start to go all "conspiracy theory" when it comes to the collective force of computational technology and everything that's concerned with it. The last time that happened was when I promised our printer that if it wasn't going to spit out my progress report, I'd have it taste the hatchet.

This time, however, I'll lay down the conspiracy theories and instead simply blame it all on the heat ( even if it's barely 22ºC...). It's gotten down to the point where It'd be faster to simply etch the letters on the monitor instead of regular typing. If you ever tried to download a picture with one of those old school 56k modems, then you have a pretty good understanding of what I'm going through right now.

Trying to reformat the hard drive of my laptop, however, cannot be attributed to the heat, so we'll blame Windows Vista instead. After having gone through 3 nerdy friends who should know better, I'm still sitting here with an overfull hard drive and a few hours less to spend on far more interesting things. If it gets down to it, I'll rip out the hard drive and scratch out all those 0's and 1's by hand, if I have to.

But even this won't put me down; hell, I've never formatted a drive before, so it shouldn't be pants and daisies to begin with. The actual nail on the coffin, however, is our scanner.

See, having had all these 'puter-problems collectively manifest themselves ( again) over a weekend, I've finally been able to get my draw on 100%. The only problem is that now I have a laptop without the drivers for my tablet so I could render, paint and retouch my line art, but that's all tertiary really, since the main culprit is, and will be, our scanner.

I know, I know, trying to get this musheen to start up anything beyond an internal fire is to flog the proverbial dead horse, I'm fully aware. But seeing as my laptop is currently acting like a lobotomy patient, I'm forced to tell the other one "no inhaler 'til we see some results."

That, of course, only results in the old boy keeling over and wheezing on the floor. It's fun to watch 'til you realize you still need that work done.*

The Scanner, however, isn't having any of that. If you've ever had to work with a would-be-artiste, you probably know what I'm going through. Feeling far too qualified yet having far too few actual qualifications, the Scanner's been pretty much flipping me the bird and calling me putain every time I try to scan some of my line art onto the flash drive. Never mind that I need to get those pics onto Photoshop and Painter to get some work done, the files the Scanner's been giving me is making me wonder if kindergarteners would be willing to try and code them in instead - since they'd probably do a much better job, anyway...

*But it's still absolutely hilarious in all its irony to have it crash because of MS Paint.

Demonoid-phenomenon

I've been getting back into music I listened to in HS. Mainly Rob Zombie. I forgot how good he was. I do of course miss white zombie. At any rate , this speed paint ( 45 mins ) came from listening to Zombie back to back. =0 Based on my favorite two songs from Hellbilly Deluxe - Phantom Stanger & Demenoid Phenomenon.

That's pretty much it.

My latest work. Rendered fully in Photoshop (with the tablet of course. What do you think?! With the mouse? It's highly impossible ;__;)

Lemme see... a rather bad attempt at the hair (I wanted to give it a shiny, glossy feeling with a tint of silver)... but I had no idea which brush to use.

Lighting a bit off. I have yet to decide the light source and I'm already shading here and there.

Probably giving it a final touch once I'm in the mood to. I'm out of inspiration at the moment.

Hello all, today I want to let everyone know that ive been very busy getting my freelance business off the ground. It's crazy that just a year ago I was just joking around with everyone that I start this whole thing. But now Ive got the resources right at my fingertips. So far Im working on logo ideas and basically a statement or a summary of what creaima is. honestly its alot tougher than i thought coming up with a logo. what really stands out. Or as Seth Godin says whats "purple cow"? Take a look at the two i have up on this blog and tell me what you think. I can take criticism please tell me what you think. I need a look from another perspective. Also finding a good web host is something else that ive been worried about. Goddaddy sounds like not a good host. Someone know of anywhere else thats decent? Or maybe I just might buy a .mac account. So anyways look at what ive got with these two logos and tell me what you think. Criticism is greatly appreciated.
