The Register has a piece entitled 'Nokia: Our Community is the best money can buy'
It's a wide ranging look at Nokia and its interaction with the world at large. Near the end of the piece they look at the Ambassador program. Maybe they've got a bit of a point there, I don't know. I'm not part of that, but I do get trial devices from them via WOM World and have had a few S60 freebies as well. It doesn't stop me from criticising their products or services though. And WOM World continue to loan me items even if what I write isn't the most flattering.
Whether giving the likes of me a freebie or a device to trial is value for money for Nokia is open to debate. I have no idea how many people read my blog. I've got Statcounter, but I don't believe that's set up right and it doesn't count RSS feeds or when posts end up elsewhere somehow or other.

]]>Today my phone died on me. After a nice late lunch with my teenagegeeks and their uncle and coming home it decided, its enough. At first there was only problem with getting the simcard to work, but after trying the card in another phone and it was dead there I realized it was a goner. But after that my N95 refused to strat again, so there’s something seriously wrong
But now when I look at the photos I took earlier that that day I see there something strange with them too, they’re too bright, and so ar the photos posted form the heavy rian the other day, so it might have been something coming.
Well I will attend to it tomorrow, luckily I have a fullcover insurance on it so it might be a piece of cake, at least I hope so…..
If its not resolved until I go on my trip, I will not do any blogging from it. Its not very funny, but I have already paid for the trip, so I will blog afterwards in that case, not as fun but……

Well today is Friday ! the 11th of July ! the day Apple's iPhone 3G version is out in stores ! there has been huge rush everywhere around this world for the New Apple iPhone 3G. People all over the world have been anxiuosly waiting for this day to get their very own iPhone which is a touchscreen wonder (as everyone knows of course ;) )
Well I must frankly say I am a huge fan of Nokia and the Nseries line-up. Its a spectacular collection ! but I must also say that there is a whole lot of iPhone supporters out there !

He wanted 160KD (~$606.00) for it..... ok, sounded reasonable to me, considering I paid almost 200KD for my n95. So I held it for a few minutes and then went over to Al-Ghanim. I asked the salesman do you have an e71?, a question I have asked the same guy just only a week ago. He smiled and said "maybe tomorrow." "OK, how much?" - "$129KD" (~$489.00)
So, if you want an e71 and you live in Kuwait, check Al-ghanim tomorrow. I know I'll be getting one real soon; unfortunately not tomorrow.
]]>This phone came out a while ago. And if there are any readers of my blog (which I seriously doubt)... they might be wondering why a phone snob such as myself has not yet even dropped mention of this cutting-edge device. The reason is simple... I can't.
That's because if I were to compare my phone (Nokia N82) to the iPhone 3G, the comparisons would be of unimportant details to what each phone was actually designed to do. Lemme reiterate that. It wouldn't solve anything.
Where the N82 fits my requirements, and that of everybody I personally know, as a phone, it falls apart where, say, a business user might be requiring a mobile device. I need a camera (and an excellent one at that), WiFi, and Bluetooth in my phone just to start things out. Sounds awfully similar to a business user... who also needs WiFi and Bluetooth but in many cases is required NOT to have a camera.
The iPhone barely shines in this no-camera arena... it's camera is of subpar quality compared to the N82, and while usable, requires proper lighting and space (since there's no focus) in order to take pictures. This makes it hard to Industrial Espionage to take place.
Also, the iPhone features an excellent browser. While I believe that the N82 has a better browser, it lacks the finger-driven touchscreen which is, even in comparison to my computer, my preferred manner of browsing the web. (A thought occurred to me the other day... the iPod Touch was, perhaps, the ultimate internet tablet device ever created.)
But where the iPhone falls apart is where I require it not to... all of the features built into the iPhone are there only to make using the phone a better experience. The touchscreen is not there as a feature, it's there as the system to use the phone. The accelerometer is not there to make certain applications function better, it's there to make certain applications function differently and make them more tangible. The GPS is not there as a feature to be utilized by software, it's there because in the original iPhone, GSM tower triangulation was not accurate enough.
And where the new iPhone features 3G browsing, the N82 already featured it. Where the iPhone 3G's high-speed data will work in the USA and not Europe, the vice-versa is true for the N82. But where I would rather find a source for WiFi, the average iPhone 3G user would rather use their internet wherever they are.
