The new Pink Daggers Necklace is available on etsy. Each ring was opened and closed one at a time by me, and the crystals are genuine Swarovski. It's 15 inches long, so it will fit like a choker on most women.

In other news, the Craft Attack! craft show in Charlotte, NC is just one week away! I'll be making the 7 hour drive there from Tennessee, and I'd love it if I could meet some of you all. A Piece a Day

I have decided to list a new piece of jewelry a day in my Etsy shop: http://basilthecat.etsy.com until December 31st. Here is my first entry. A beautiful handmade vintage terracotta necklace. I've never seen such a unique necklace before. The earthy texture is amazing and it's so versatile. I think it would look amazing peeking out from a crisp white blouse paired with jeans.

Headphone necklace

So, because the neck is so big on my Despotism shirt, I felt I needed something on my neck so as not to look bizarre. So, I bought this headphone necklace dealio. It arrived today! The problem is, the chain is just a little short; I can wear it, and it's comfortable (or would be if I wasn't fighting a migraine), but because it's so short, it looks more like a choker -- it's all up in my adam's apple, instead of falling a bit lower. As such, it's still not quite right. All I need to do is find a cheap chain and swap them out, though, and it'll be fine. Chokers are fine with my other stuff, but with this shirt, the chain needs to be a bit longer... only another inch or two would be fine, I think. (shrug)

My Take on the J Crew Bubble Necklace

What started out as an Alchemy request on Etsy for a JCrew Bubble Necklace has turned into these beautiful necklaces that I have created (if I do say so myself). I have been making them in turquoise, onyx, and coral in both silver and gold. The above picture is from a custom request I did for 3 necklaces. I'm also quite impressed with my Picassa2 skills at making such a lovely picture collage :)

Love from the mailbox

I went out to the mailbox a few minutes ago expecting to find the usual junk mail and bills and I only went out at that moment because I was tired of ~~avoiding~~ working. I came back in with only one piece of junk mail (should I switch to this insurance company simply because they sent me a silly little bumper sticker?) and a package from a Vox friend.

Lindsey had said that she wanted to send me a little happy because she knew that September is a tough month for me. But, with everything going on in my life I had forgotten about it, until I saw the package in the mailbox. So, with a smile on my face and growing anticipation I came back into the house. She's so talented and has so many cute things on her Etsy that I couldn't imagine what she'd sent.

She sent me the prettiest necklace I've seeen in a while. Pretty for many different reasons--one being it is a color that I would not have picked out for myself, but now that I have it and I'm wearing it, I can't imagine it being anything other than the pretty coppery-brown that it is. Another reason it is so pretty is because it was sent out of love, friendship, and selflessness.

Thank you, Lindsey. Everytime I wear my necklace it will be with a smile and a fond memory.

At times when prices of precious metals such as gold and platinum are soaring, it is interesting to see the innovation in the jewelry industry. I was in Southern Arizona recently and came across a place near Tucson that is making some pretty cool stuff out of copper! I thought this was a good alternative to silver jewlery. I bought several pendants that can be seen at http://www.azjewelrystore.com/. I knew that magnetic copper bracelets have been around for a while, and I read about the copper bracelet arthritis connect, but this was the first time that I have seen copper pendants. These pendants have their own rustic charm, not that silver jewelry doesn’t have its own charm!!

Each pendant is quite large, typically longer than 2-inches. The focal point of the pendant is a natural stone - I bought ones with onyx, quartz, carnelian, and chalcedony. Go to http://www.azjewelrystore.com/ and let me know what you think.

Unique Copper Jewelry

In my earlier post, I wrote about these cool copper pendants that I had picked up in Southern Arizona, and I had several listed on www.AzJewelryStore.com. I am now posting about several designer copper bracelets that I picked up. These hand crafted copper bracelets are really pretty and are available both in the cuff-style as well as bangle bracelets. The bangle bracelets of course have a fixed size while the size for the cuff-style bracelets can be adjusted (within reason!!). This is really good jewelry, and is a good alternative if cash is tight and silver jewelry is out of reach. Pretty, inexpensive, jewlery.

I read some about the copper bracelet arthritis link, that magnetic copper bracelets have been used to control pain. Since copper is non-magnetic, I have no idea how a copper magnetic bracelet is made, and the copper bracelets on www.AzJewelryStore.com are make no claims to the copper bracelet arthritis connection.
