Fiesta Homecoming Dance This Weekend!

It's the weekend, and that means it's time to partaay!

The Fiesta GMs will be throwing a homecoming dance today and tomorrow in Elderine to start the weekend off right, so stop by to dance, relax, and hang out with your friends. Be sure to look your best and dress to impress with a stylish Sakura Costume, Royal Fiesta Costume, or Tuxedo/Dress (available in White, Black, Red, and Blue!).

The GMs will also crown the homecoming king and queen during the event - so show up early and wish the winners your best!

New Dungeon and Events Arrive in Secret of the Solstice

The latest patch for Secret of the Solstice is now available, introducing a challenging new high level dungeon, community-requested balance changes, and some exciting new in-game events.

The doors sealing the Sleepless Grave dungeon below the sandy city of Eir have been opened, allowing high level players to access the dangerous crypt for the first time. Players willing to brave the mummies, stone warriors, and minotaurs who make the Sleepless Grave their home will be rewarded with valuable Xen Stones. Best of all, the Xen Stone drop rate has been dramatically increased in all of Solstice's dungeons.

The famous Xenian war hero Drekard will also be leading bands of adventurers into the game's many dungeons on Thursday, October 9th, including the new Sleepless Grave. Players that manage to stay by Drekard's side for the entirety of the event will be rewarded with powerful in-game prizes.

Finally, players who aren't yet ready for their first taste of Secret of the Solstice dungeon spelunking can log on Saturday, October 11th for the Welcome to Xen event. The Solstice GMs will be helping players new to the world of Xen through their first quests, answering questions, and even handing out in-game items.

Discover Your Inner Explorer on Columbus Day in Fiesta

Christopher Columbus has discovered the magical world of Isya! Now he's stuck in the world of Fiesta with no way to return home, having lost his three famous ships and most of his nautical equipment at sea.

Always willing to lend a helping hand, the people of Isya have rallied behind Columbus and are now working to rebuild the legendary explorer's fleet. New premium items for players ready to join Columbus' new fleet are now available in the Fiesta Store: The Sailor Uniform, Mara Hat, and Eye Patch. Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG) is a type of game that allows hundreds, thousands or perhaps even millions of people on a large area to gather around, interact and play in a virtual world simultaneously. Some MMORPG's last for years and hold events like tournaments and guild meetings.

This contains the MMORPG's that I have played and are currently playing. (yes, quite a long list!)

Danaera

Philippine Ragnarok Online [link]

pRO is the mother of all MMORPG's in the Philippines (well, OzWorld was the first MMO here but I don't know if it's considered an RPG or just merely a chat game)!!! I was one of the ßeta players of pRO. Back then, only 100 people were playing in the Chaos server. It was really fun and I got a chance to speak with the GM's in-game and IRL. I also took part in the events and even won an artbook signed by Myoung-Jin Lee (creator of the Ragnarok manhwa).

The avatars, monsters and pets are really cute! The controls are user-friendly and skills are not too hard to comprehend. They have a wide variety of job classes, hundreds of equipment, cool quests and in-game events. Over the years, RO proved itself as one of the most famous and stable games in the world.

The Family

This is also the most memorable game I played, as this is where I found my new love. My ex-boyfriend and I were supposed to be wed before he goes abroad but after several months of planning, "The Priest Ran Away with the Bride!" Hahaha, yeah, that's how it started.

I stopped playing pRO in two occasions. First time I halted was right after the ßeta days because I lost my job and got busy helping with my mom's business. When I had the chance, I went back in the Iris server and stayed for another year. I completely halted playing pRO when I got swamped with work and was introduced to other MMO's.

Twilight in Haram

Rising Force Online - Philippines [link]

RF-Online is the second MMORPG I played. Like pRO, I also got addicted with it. It's full 3D rendition and awesome graphics are really a big shift and it boasts its PvP among its other features.

I only got to make one character here, which is a cross-class Warrior-Summoner. My boyfriend has several characters, but his main was an Arch-Magus. He and his bestfriend usually helped me level up and gave me items.

The Secret . . .

I enjoyed pRO because I get to meet a lot of people, collect headgears and raise pets. In RF, they don't have any of those. Sure, you get to meet people but only if you're strong, active and politically-inclined. Yes, there's a lot of politics and assholes in this game and that really ticked me off. PvP offers a good adrenaline rush but that's only until you are KO'd with just one hit.

After less than a year, I decided to quit the game. My boyfriend is still playing and he's one of the most notorious AM's.

Tales of Pirates [link]

ToP is an international MMORPG that is Free-to-Play. It's also rendered in 3D and the characters are really adorable, equipped with super cute armors and pet systems!

ToP allows multiple game clients to be opened at the same time so I created two characters to keep me going, a cleric and a wizard.

Though the game is cute and all girl-ish, I got really ticked-off with their system. Monsters spawn on the exact location so you can just stay put in one spot and wait for it to come out. On top of that, kill-stealing is ALLOWED! WTF!

I stopped playing after two months, I think.

Pets were not raised properly . . .

Rappelz [link]

Rappelz is a 3D MMORPG with similar characteristics of RF-Online. However, this game sucked big time. Everything about it is just so WRONG! The pets look HORRIBLE, the PvP stinks, the maps are confusing and the quests are soooooo tiresome even for a lowbie!

Maybe I was just too bored so I played this game. I am only thankful with this game because it reminded me to upgrade my RAM. Hehehee~

Surviving in the "Lake in Dusk"

CABAL Online [link]

CABAL returned much of the trust I lost with MMORPG's. Its graphics are better compared to most MMO's I have tried.

The avatars have that angst-factor and it's really jaw-dropping when a character executes a spell or a skill! It's uber FLASHY! The background music also adds much excitement to the game. TOTALLY AWESOME!!!

The levelling system is quite similar with RF-Online, wherein points for base and skill/spell are different. RF's term to it is "PT" while in Cabal, we call it "skill-grinding" ... PVP will not give as much adrenaline rush as RF but it's really nerve-racking when you see two players battling. Haha!

I created a wizard since it's a class I am really accustomed with. I managed to get my wizzy to base level 92, with AM/Completer skills in 2 months time.

I only stopped playing CABAL because I transferred to Makati and I couldn't take my PC along with me.

I was supposed to take part in the Closed Beta of CABAL-Ph but I got too lazy. The servers were always full and it was filled with n00bs. XD

The House of Panda ! ! !

Wonderland Online [link]

I timed out from the 3D games for a couple of months and tried this. It's isometric just like Ragnarok Online, but the camera angle is fixed, bringing the classic 2D look. The battle system is Turn-based as opposed to all the MMO's I played, which are Linear. This is really boring especially if you are with party members who can't decide what spell to cast or skill to use. PvP is also boring. So what I usually did was buy HP and SP items then use the "remote control" to bot. Yes, one of its features is botting so I can leave my characters anytime. Just like ToP, I can open several game clients at the same time. In WO, players can choose any character and each can become any class they want. So, two players can have the same avatar, but different job classes. It's really cool!

I also collect pets in WO, but unlike here, I don't need any special item to get a pet. Just fight a certain monster that's a few levels lower than my character and pray that I can capture it.

Manufacturing eats up most of my game time because depending on the item I want to craft, it may take a split-second to a week before completion. The longest I spent in crafting was 2 days, when I tried making the "Stairs". Then, I boast all these items in my Tent which I called "House of Panda!" The tent is where a character can rest, store items, manufacture or just play around while on-the-go.

Level 85 -- Muse

ROSE Online [link]

Dada gave me a choice between playing Grand Chase or ROSE and I chose the latter because it reminds me so much of the past MMO's I played. I had several mishaps trying to install and also run the game because my video card is already failing. Nonetheless, I managed to resolve those issues with his help.

I made a Muse, which is the spell-caster class and once again, I decided to build a Full-Support character. I named her after that cute cosplayer I found on the web, Kipi. No, I am not a fan-girl of Kipi. She's just the first person that pops out of my head when I hear the word "cute". Alodia is NOT cute. She's beautiful. Uhm ...

Enjoying the Ride!

Anyway, I managed to get her up to Lvl 85 in a span of two days (well, make that about 36 hours)!!! We also saved enough money so we're able to buy an Angel Wing and a Cart (the automobile-thingie). I consulted Dada on which skills to use and what equipment to wear so that we can level up much faster. We didn't purchase our clothes -- they're just loots from the monsters we killed. The EQ upgrade materials were also loots. X3

Cuteness and Romance

The Cart quest is too difficult for a FS so what I do is just be a backseater and let my boyfriend drive. That way, I was also able to see the wonderful sights and the dramatic intervals of night and day.

There's a bug though, when using both the cart and the angel wing. When we changed maps, my Movement Speed went down from 626 to 235!!! OMG! I am not sure if I should report this bug to the game masters or just let things be.

There's also this fairy that randomly spawns and buffs characters. I think she's Arua, the one Alodia cosplayed during a LUG event. With her help, we were able to kill monsters much faster.

There's so much more I want to know about the game!!! Shucks! I know this is an old game but I was too adddicted with pRO then to even try the local ROSE servers. X3

Online Gaming Slang Made in RP (mostly) ! ! !

Because of MMORPG's here in the country, a lot of new words were created and were usually adopted not only in OG's but also in chatrooms, forums, text messages and even when conversing face-to-face!

Here are some of those words added on an online gamer's vocabulary (and possibly passed on to peers) . . .

ADIK!
= a person who is addicted to the game, who usually spends more than five hours playing daily

AFTER TEN YEARS!!!
= an expression that shows the discontent of a person because something is taking too long to finish or happen
= e.g. leveling up, finishing a quest, waiting for someone or something

AMP
= short for "anak ng p***" or "son of a b*t**"
= varieties include : amf, ampness, amfness, amfufufu

ASA!
= "dream on!"
= when a player tries to rip-off another player either by kill-stealing, trying to defeat a stronger character in PvP, stealing someone else's loots, etc . . .
= varieties include : asaness

AYT!
= alright!

AOE
= Area of Effect
= A spell or skill that can do damage on more than one enemy

BUFF
= spells or skills that temporarily increase a character's attack, defense or other abilities

BUTTON-MASH
= continuously pressing the keys on the keyboard to simultaneously execute spells or skills

BH
= Boss Hunt

BTW
= by the way

BOT
= a software (or sometimes a game feature, e.g. Wonderland Online's "Remote Control" item) that allows a character to move and do certain tasks automatically without human intervention

BUG
= anything that goes wrong with the game client or software

BUG-ABUSE
= people who take advantage of bugs for their own sake or the misfortune of others

B>
= used by players to alert others that they're buying a certain item
= e.g. "B>HP potions" --- a person is buying Health Point potions

CHIXILOG
= a guy using a female avatar
= female in-game characters with balls in real life LoL!
= song made famous by Kamikazee and became Philippine Ragnarok Online's theme song!

CLOSED BETA
= a trial stage of a newly-released game wherein only a few people are invited to check its features and discover bugs

CREEP
= computer-generated monsters or summons (usually in WoW)

DUPE
= a program or command used to duplicate in-game items

EXP
= experience points

F2P
= Free-to-Play
= games that do not require a person to purchase using real money in exchange of game time

FARM
= killing monsters to raise money

FS
= Full-support
= a character dedicated to buffing other players
= usually refers to priests and clerics

GG
= Good game ; I think they say this when a battle has ended, may they be winners or loser .. not sure~
= "sige" (okay or alright) in Philippine MMO's

GM
= Game Master
= Guild Master

GTG
= Got to go
= varieties include : g2g, gogo

HAX
= hack

HIGHBIE
= a high-level character

IGN
= in-game name

IMBA
= imbalanced features within the game
= I heard this in Rising Force Online, they say that it is "imba" because one race becomes unbeatable even if the others max out their skills and stats or it takes a lot of manpower to destroy them.

IRL
= in-real-life

KESO
= kill-stealing

KK
= "okay"

KILL-STEAL
= if a player tries to damage a monster (without consent) that another player is currently hitting
= acronym is "KS"

LOOT
= items dropped by monsters once they're killed

LOOTER
= a monster or player that steals items of others

LOWBIE
= a newbie or low-level character

LUFET!
= an expression "malupit" meaning "awesome"

MACRO
= an in-game feature or software that allows a character to simultaneously execute multiple skills or spells using just one button, key or mouse-click
= some keyboards and mice are equipped with this feature already, they're kinda expensive though

MOB TRAIN
= when a player gathers around numerous monsters all at once

NOOB
= an insult for newbies or people who are new to the game
= also refers to people with no manners

NP
= no problem

NPC
= non-player character
= an avatar that's already part of the game
= some NPC's give quests, some buy from and sell stuff to players

NUKER
= a character that can do AoE spells or skills

NYC
= nice!

OMG!
= Oh My God! (my fave expression)

OMW
= On my way
= my boyfriend said he invented the acronym during the ßeta days of pRO. hahaha!

= Over-priced ; items that are was more expensive that their selling value

OPEN BETA
= a trial stage of a newly-released game that's open for everyone to test

PARANG KAILAN LANG!!!
= "It seems not so long ago!!!"
= this is a phrase I coined while playing ROSE Online. It's really easy to level up. I reached level 85 in 2 days! Every time I level up, I say "Parang kailan lang~!!!" My boyfriend got hooked too and he says that using the tune of "Ngayon at Kailan Man" (Now and Forever) which is a song by Sharon Cuneta.

= inquiry on how much a certain item costs

PILOT
= a person who controls a character that belongs to another person

PISO
= a monster or player damage that is only equivalent to "1"

= a player advertising that he or she is looking for party members

= resurrection
= to revive a character after it's killed by a monster or another player

= a player that receives much of the damage to save party members

= a player wanting to trade the items that he has for another item he'd like to have, instead of money
= may also be a combination of in-game currency + some items

New Kung Fu Items, PvP Arena System now in Secret of the Solstice

The latest patch for Secret of the Solstice has arrived, introducing a new in-game mail system, an easy to use PvP arena, cool Kung Fu items, and a slew of bug fixes.

For a small fee of Kron you can now send, receive, and store messages from other players using a new in-game mail system. In case you'd rather fight than socialize, you can visit the newly-appointed Arena Master in Esper Park instead and best other players in three distinct PvP modes.

New Kung Fu items, including a stylish yellow jumpsuit, nunchunks, and the deadly Dragon Bow are now available in the Solstice Store, allowing you to show off your love for classic Kung Fu movies or just wear something more comfortable when karate chopping your enemies. Besides looking cool, players sporting the Kung Fu Jumpsuit can also participate in the Kung Fu PvP Tournament on Tuesday, September 30th. Form teams of four with three of your friends and put your fighting skills to the ultimate test!

Three World of Warcraft Spoofs

Everyone knows how wildly successful World of Warcraft has been around the world, and I’m surprised MMORPG developers waited so long to make knock offs of it. There is nothing wrong with borrowing some of the successful features of a competitor but the following games are shameless knock offs; 4Story, Talisman Online and the upcoming Runes of Magic MMO game. When I say “shameless knock offs” I mean the developers seriously looked at World of Warcraft and copied every aspect of the game to the best of their abilities.

4Story

When I first started playing 4Story I was shocked by how similar it was to World of Warcraft. Everything from the games graphics to the interface looked just like World of Warcraft. There is no doubt that World of Warcraft is a good game, so logic dictates that if someone copies World of Warcraft, that game will be good as well. This is true for the most part, as game play is generally fun, but if you’ve played World of Warcraft before, playing 4Story will feel like a cheap knockoff. The game is still worth checking out if you’ve never played World of Warcraft before or you don’t want to pay for it.

Talisman Online looks even more like a cheap knockoff of World of Warcraft. It’s clear that the game tried to copy World of Warcraft’s interface and graphics, but it only succeeded half way. If you look at the game’s spell icons they look almost identical to the spell icons from World of Warcraft. Take a look at the Ice bolt icon, it’s the same exact icon from World of Warcraft! The graphics are a bit jagged to, but other than that; the games are pretty similar; minus the fact that Talisman is obviously an inferior game.

Runes of Magic

This is the newest World of Warcraft spoof out there and the game hasn’t even been released yet. Runes of Magic looks like the most “polished” World of Warcraft knock off and will probably be an excellent alternative to the actual game. The game will also be free to play mmorpg, so it may attract a lot of players who were interested in playing World of Warcraft, but didn’t want to pay for it. Check out the trailer for this one.

New Fiesta Items Now Available

Six brand new items are now available in the free-to-play MMORPG Fiesta, ranging from new mounts and gear to powerful premium power-ups.

Players can now hop on the backs of the two latest additions to Fiesta's ever-expanding corral of rideable mounts - the Scarab and Pink Raccoon. The Dunce Cap and Gold Nine (ranks 1-4) are no longer exclusive to the Remi's Rare Finds minigame, and are now available in the Fiesta Store. Cheap 1-day versions of powerful consumable items - the Blessing of Teva, which reduces the penalty of death and the HP/SP Extender (+50%), which does exactly what it promises - are also now available in the bargain bin.

Big companies have big budgets to promote their games, but don’t go missing out on the smaller budget titles; they can be a lot of fun. Sure everyone has heard of big name free MMORPG titles like Maplestory, Fly For Fun, Last Chaos and SilkRoad, but have you heard of these games?

5) Risk Your Life 2

Risk Your Life 2 : Incomplete Union is a fairly balanced 3D MMORPG. The game has never really got any attention from the MMORPG community, but the game’s fast leveling makes the game worth checking out.

4) Saga

Saga is a 3D MMORTS that doesn’t require a lot of commitment to enjoy. The game is geared towards both casual and hardcore gamers as players don’t need to commit countless hours everyday if they want to be competitive. You can train units and construct buildings off line, so make sure to log in at least once a day and give your peasants new orders. If anything, this game is worth checking out simply for its uniqueness.

3) Seal Online

Seal online is a 2D Fantasy MMORPG made behind Rohan. Unlike Rohan, Seal Online is much more light hearted and colorful. The game’s graphics look a lot like Asda Story and Fly For Fun.

2) Savage: Battle for Newerth

Savage is a 3D MMO, a Shooter AND an RTS. The game is incredibly unique and is truly the only one of its kind. Each game has a single “commander” who plays in a the standard RTS zoomed out view and is in charge on gathering resources / constructing buildings / upgrading weapons. Everyone else in the game act as soldiers who can help the commander gather resources or simply attack the enemy. This game is definitely worth checking out, as it’s incredibly unique and a lot of fun.

1) Freestyle: Street Basketball

Freestyle is a 3D Basketball MMO. I know what you’re thinking.. “a basketball MMO.. What? I don’t even like basketball!”. Well I don’t like basketball either, but I absolutely love Freestyle. Rounds are incredibly fast paced and take a lot of skill. The games a lot more fun when you play with friends; but playing with random people online is still a lot of fun.

Secret of the Solstice Patch Adds New Zones, Quest Interface

The latest patch for the free-to-play MMORPG Secret of the Solstice has something for both new players and battle-hardened veterans alike, including a new starting zone, four new high-level areas, and a brand new quest interface.

Players just starting their Solstice adventure and long-time players creating a new alt to take advantage of the game's branching class tree can now experience an entirely new starting zone. Based on the feedback from the Solstice community, Outspark has implemented a brand new starting zone featuring new quests and a lush jungle environment.

Meanwhile, the evil GM Alastor has fled into the deserts of Xen. Players up to the task must pursue him across four new harsh landscapes - the Emperonie Plateau and the Aserphel, Cretino, and Turmeit deserts - and battle his armies as they come closer to uncovering the secrets of the Solstice Sphere.

Additionally, the new patch also introduces a player-requested overhaul of the game's quest UI. Players can now view all of an NPC's available quests at the same time and choose which mission to undertake.

Uneventful Day

I just realized that today was the deadline to file for graduation in Fall 2008. Which means I'll have to go through one more semester of school. -.- GREAT.

I talked to the boyfriend early this morning. At about half past midnight or so. He showed me some music he'd mixed recently. It was really good! I liked it a lot. I want to hear the whole thing eventually, but I don't want to pressure him. ^^ But it's honestly really good! Lots better than the stuff he did a few years ago. That stuff was good, but this is sooo much better. XD

I spent the day...listening to music and playing games. XD I'm being pressured to join a guild in my main MMORPG...a friend of mine wants to revive a guild that he was master of and needs more active players. But...I'm currently guildless and loving it. I feel bad, because I really do want to help him... But I really don't feel like joining a new guild.

In the other game, Shaiya, I'm leveling pretty quickly...and I could probably be 10 levels higher than what I am now if I kept playing. But I just get bored of running around so much. I also frequently get lost in that game. I have no idea where half the monsters I need for quests are...and the quest descriptions never tell you where the monsters are. So I have to spend time wandering around the world, trying to find one dumb type of monster.

But the visuals are decent...and it seems like there are only a few areas that you can't get to in the game. There are some mountains that look impossible to climb, but can be scaled. There are sudden drops that look like they'd stop you from jumping off of it...but you can jump over the edge and slide down the slope just fine.

The music also sounds movie-epic. Not as epic as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, but still pretty epic.

But I'm just not that into it...yet.

Bleach 300 Trailer "11th Squad"

Also...I read chapter 325 of Bleach...and I almost cried!!! Ikkaku...!!! A member of the 11th Division, defeated by an enemy!!!! DX If only he'd released his Bankai, he could have won. But he couldn't...because the other captains were there... And if they found out he'd achieved Bankai, he'd probably be made to take a position as one of the Captains of the Gotei 13...when all he wants is to serve and die under the command of Kenpachi. ><

I really like the 11th Division because of their obsession with fighting. XD Kenpachi is just plain awesome, and his entrances in the Bleach movies are always classic.

The YouTube video I'm posting is an awesome parody trailer of "300" made using footage from Bleach. XD Really captures the 11th Division spirit. XD They love their battles...and for them, the only way to die is in battle.
