October is Mer-month!

Our ruby-throated Merlin was born on Oct. 13, 1997, which makes him eleven this year.  The Miao Chronicles will be celebrating with an extra-floofy dose of mer-pics over the next couple weeks.

Six random things about the Merp
  1. Merlin doesn't usually jump to high places, but this autumn he has taken to napping in the top nest of one of the cat trees.
  2. Merlin's favorite food is yummy.
  3. Merlin goes hunting for glitterballs and mousies just about every day.  When he catches his prey, he announces it to the whole household proudly, regardless of the hour.
  4. Merlin has won numerous nap-a-thons.
  5. Merlin may be small, but he's tough and can best any Miao Brother in a glaring match.
  6. Mer purrs.

New pictures for a new year...  I took a few miaoly photos on my weekend home, and many of them should be showing up on these pages soon.  Possibly the first digital photos taken of the Miao Brothers in the month of September - of any year, ever!

I was shocked that my brother was shocked that I was wearing nail polish (on my toes) this summer.  Maybe he was just shocked at how cheap it looked, but apparently when I was little I swore that I would never wear nail polish.  Ever.


I think I disappointed him.

I got the Miao Bros this pink plush bed over the winter holidays.  Kemi adopted the bed as his own, but he shares it with Ping and anyone else who wants it.

Over summer break I encouraged Mani to nap in it and it quickly became his favorite nap spot.  He only needed to be shown once.  I think that at first he thought it was the Bear's Bed, and it's sort of an unusual nap spot for a kitteh so he was skeptical about it's degree of comfiness.  But after that introduction, Mani decided that it was the best seat in the house.  He would trot into the living room and hop into his mini-chair to watch TV with me.  If I got up to get a snack or something, he'd follow me into the kitchen for a snack of his own, and then trot back to his pink plush chair just as I was turning the movie back on.

Unfortunately, the bed occasionally cap-sizes when he hops in.
