I miss Melissa Etheridge. Every time one of her CDs came out, I devoured it. Poured over every single syllable of every single word she sang. Her lyrics told a story, drew you into her world and made you see your own. Her lyrics inspired me as a poet, as a writer, as a person. There's something about Sugarland's lyrics on the new CD that remind me of Melissa. They're quite heartfelt and tell a story with each song. So I'm on a lyric kick... and I guess a Sugarland kick... This song is called Wishing and I can think of a few people in my neighborhood that could relate to this lyrics right now. There are few stellar lines that make me envious... Enjoy!

This morning I was walking around and singing one of my favourite road trip songs, "Good Life" by Inner City.  I love this song!  I haven't heard it in awhile so I google'd the lyrics and sang it in every room of the house.  The kitchen, by the way, has awesome acoustics for this tune.

Then I went to a career website and there was a banner at the top: Good Life.

I clicked on a link at another site and went to the WWF, which is the World Wildlife Fund and not the other thing you are thinking of, and that site had a big graphic header that said... yup.  Good Life.

So I'm either online way too much... or the universe is sending me a signal: it's all good, ya dummy.

Probably both.

yesterday was an odd day.  I was ready to kill at work, and then had Tracey Time when I got home.  Took a long walk with the dogs, read, wrote, watched Deadwood.  Most of the music I listened to didn't have lyrics.
And since there's no real song that hits it...you get Modest Mouse.

I love this album.  I admit this is one of the few songs that I went out and found the lyrics for instead of writing them down from memory, mostly because it's not in English.  But the song is beautiful, Elena Ledda's voice is amazing and heart-wrenching.  But I listened to the album most of the day yesterday as I was running around and was reminded how outstanding it is.
