The Hockey Club of West Hampstead

Hockey

West Hampstead Hockey Club is the best hockey club of North West London. There are 14 hockey teams in total which are trained by qualified coaches. You can join this London hockey club which is affiliated to The Cumberland Lawn Tennis Club and Hampstead Cricket Club.

The West Hampstead Hockey Club is located in Zone 2 in North-West London. West Hampstead has also good connectivity by tube system via the Jubilee Line rail system by Thameslink and Silverlink. There are also buses from Golders Green, Primrose Hill, Kentish Town, Belsize Park, Hampstead, Maida Vale, Camden, and other locations within the town.

I’m Off To London and I’m Really Excited.

We’re heading off to New York in a few weeks (but that’s a different story), flying from Heathrow. Now although New York is one of my favourite places on the earth, it doesn’t quite beat London. So just to get my yearly dosage of our beautiful capital, we’re travelling down a few days prior to our flight, giving us three days to take in the wonderful sights of London.

I’ve been to London time and time again and stayed in a few great Hotels. We have relatives there. I’ve worked on business there. We’ve been to Wembley to watch the FA Cup Final. I don’t know what it is about the place, but I can’t keep away.

Maybe it’s the people. London gets a lot of bad press for not being a hospitable City. And I know what they mean. If you bump into someone walking down the street, you try and stop to apologise. But by that time they’re half way down the street and have crossed the road. And vice versa. Maybe it’s because it happens such a lot and everyone is so busy they don’t have time to stop and say sorry. However, this is the part of London I love. You can be anyone you want. You don’t have to worry about seeing someone you might know. You can be a social recluse for a few days if you wish. Or you can be the most vibrant person ever. No one cares and no one batters an eyelid – it’s fantastic.

Or perhaps it’s the food. You cannot – and I mean that honestly – go to London and not find a type of food you adore. There are all the (now normal) Italian, Chinese and Indian restaurants dotted around the City. However, have a little wander and you’ll find Cantonese, South American and even Goan. If you can’t find something you like to eat in London, then you must be, well, I don’t know, but it’s impossible.

Overall though, I think it’s probably the sheer amount of things to do that attract me to London. I’ve been now….dozens of times and I still find new things to do. I did the Tower of London on my visit and mixed it in with a day or two of shopping (which, although I don’t like shopping, once you get started it London, you have to be dragged away kicking and screaming). However, it wasn’t until my most recent trip that I went to Madame Tussauds Waxwork Museum – and I haven’t even been on the London Eye yet. Which by tourist standards is a major faux pas.

I’ll try and keep a diary of what I get up to in London and report back soon.

Baystwater Road Open Air Market

Make your Sunday by visiting the open air market along Bayswater Road. I make regular visit to London and have almost visited most of its museums, galleries and other interesting tourist places. Now I have made my visits to London more interesting by visiting the market places in London. There are many fashionable marketing districts in London. Once when I was there in London, I made visit to the Open Air Market along the Bayswater Road. It was Sunday and at least half a mile of Bayswater Road had become an exhibition place. Over 300 artists showcased their painting and photographs of London city. The price of the painting pieces ranged from £1 to £1,000. I made some purchases too from here.

Kensington and hyde park

I had just come to stroll in the Kensington Gardens which was just a few distance away my hotel- Derby Hotel and I was amazed to find such a stunning collection of paintings in the open air market of Bayswater Road

I jokingly speculated to a British coworker that I might see Hugh Grant around that area, to which he replied: "Hugh Grant's a twat. He probably lives in L.A." He probably does. I can see it will take a while to get used to British humor. My sarcasm may not translate entirely well.

So this is our last week of work. Five days and we're done with the US branch. We've been working hard, trying to get everything done and taken care of. This weekend we sold a dresser, desk, TV, and our car. We also gave our coffee table, couch, some artwork (I use the term loosely to describe some huge tapestries of lions), and a miscellany of food and condiments (who knew we had three unopened jars of pickles) to my brother and his girlfriend who are living in sin in Wallingford.

Tomorrow we go into the UK consulate to get our biometrics done, which is the final step for visa-getting. I imagine it sort of like that scene in Men in Black, where they do all of the identity erasing.

We spent most of the weekend taking care of random things. One in particular was stranger than others. We visited an office the size of a coffin in order to have our iPhones unlocked. Lots of French-speaking, tape, and mysterious glances, I think we have the correct stuff to make our iPhones functional in Europe. We'll see when we get over there.

Well, busy week ahead. Watch out for the galaxy defenders.

Ides of October saved by BSG

As yet another week of instability hits Canary Wharf and bring extra poignancy to the term 'City high-flyer', things here in Plumstead are pretty calm. My master plan of selling up and heading north is well and truly scuppered as property on my street is failing to sell. Luckily, I am not in a big rush to leave London, as I am not anxious to return to a region of 'real' winters and summers which can be easily missed if you are not concentrating. The Romans certainly knew when enough was enough, and their fort building came to a halt not far into the Scottish Borders. I think Hadrian's Wall was just as likely to have been an attempt at keeping the icy Scottish winds at bay, as it was of keeping the wild northern hordes out. Nearly two thousand years later and Scotland is probably the only country waiting eagerly for Global Warming... bring it on!

My Roman link clunks into Mayor Boris Johnson, a Classicist, taking affirmative action this week and recommending the Chief of the Met Police take extended gardening leave (or else). Boris has promised to make the streets safer and get more bobbies on the beat, etc. Hopefully, his Classics background will provide him with some working historical political blueprints in his struggle to make the city safer to live in and better to work in. I do like the plan for a new airport in the Thames Estuary - surely a win-win situation all round?

As I write this, my Sun and his plucky partner are out panning for gold in the Scottish Borders. What seemed like a bit of a joke last year, now looks like 'not such a bad idea' today. They are exploring streams, not too far away, as it happens, from one of the last of those Roman Forts. (More on this later.)

So, just as I felt this might be the end of another depressing week in finance and the media- Pa Broon still in charge over here, Sarah Palin proving that life can indeed exist in a vacuum over in US, and Brussles still churning out politically correct misery in its fight against common sense- I remembered I had Season 3 of BSG which I had not yet seen. The Dottir brought it over on last visit- and I had put it aside for 'times of stress'. So I am going to snuggle down tonight and see how the BSG crew are fairing and whether their house gods are with them... we certainly need ours.

still recovering from the jet-lag after managing to be up for a straight 30 hours, i have been having a nice time getting situated to the future life here in london. although for a short period of time for the present moment (see above title), i told boBo earlier today whilst shopping for some much needed winter gear (ya know, hats, gloves, the whole kit and kaboodle) that this move feels just right. everything is up in the air. no job, no place to call our own, no idea what exactly we will be doing here. but the inner sensation, the gut, tells me that this is good. it is, as they say in california land, all good.

Teaching all day, then going to the gig, flyering before and after for Des's show, then going to the Bizarre Ball afterwards to see Des comparing. Exhausting. But godamned fun.

Weekend in Central London Golf Centre

No wonder, London has everything for everyone on weekends. Sometimes I make visit to Central London Golf Centre. I am beginner in this game but this London golf centre still gives me a chance to make some shots in air. Most of them do not reach their station. It is real fun playing golf. It is not necessary to have a membership to be here in this golf centre.

EMI Song-writing Camp / Popkomm / Record Deal

Tomorrow we're heading off to Berlin for the EMI song-writing camp. There are twelve songwriters from around the world and I am the only UK representative! Well excited. Many thanks to Peter Ende and the chaps at EMI Berlin for giving me this amazing opportunity to collaborate with some of the world's top writers. The event is taking place at the Gibson Guitar Showroom in Berlin, so no doubt I will be playing on some pretty swish geeee-tars! Yay!

After the EMI Camp, we have also been invited to attend Popkomm which is a fantastic world music and entertainment business international conference and festival. There will be a lot of music industry bods and up-and-coming musos there, so i'm gonna get my finest glad rags on! Ha! We've also been invited to Midem in Cannes which is another music conference(January 2009). Woop woop!

Just got back from an amazing few days in Hamburg. We have been offered a Major European Record Deal which is stupendously good news. It's a new model deal based around some great international partners, including a great distribution network, some amazing venues/stadiums across europe, a kick-ass marketing company and some incredibly successful directors / producers. I'm not really allowed to say anymore until the negotiations are well under way, but I will keep you all updated - it's all massively bonza and very artist friendly! To be honest, i'm pretty bowled over that all this is happening so quickly. Our management KRMB have done so so much for us in such a short period of time, and we're all incredibly grateful. Thanku kindly :)

We are finishing our debut album "Parrysland" in "Home Studios" (Hamburg - www.home-studios.com) with throughout December 2008. I recorded a handy-cam perspective of our first visit to check out this amazing studio complex, graced by the likes of One Republic, Lauryn Hill and Mariah Carey in recent months. One Republic were recording new material as we arrived. Scary! Acclaimed producer "Franz Plasa" will be working with us, as well as the "National Radio Symphony Orchestra of Germany" on string duties! Ahhhhhhhhhh, so excited. The desks were something else, and apparantly they will have the new hybrid SSL desks by december so we will be the first to use them! They also had the coolest gibson robot guitars and a gorgeous Taylor Acoustic that fell in love with. My heart aches. Watch the video and check out the chipmunk voice at the end - priceless:

Ashley Hicklin - First visit to "Home Studios" (Hamburg)

Being on the road all the time has meant that i've had loads of time to get some really cool lyrics and melodies down, so there are lots of new songs in the pipe-line, and i'm really pleased with them. More to come in due course. Off to Berlin now, will blog upon my return!

London Looked Wonderful in Notting Hill

Notting Hill has been my one of the favorite Hollywood flicks. Starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, it’s really a great romantic comedy to watch. Julia Roberts is a very famous Hollywood actress who suddenly bumps into the Hugh Grant’s book shop while shopping in Nottinghill. An accident spilling of juice in all over her dress lands her up in the apartment of Hugh Grant in Nottinghill. And with the passing of time they get to know each other. Surpassing all the problems, Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts however, manage to bring a beautiful end to the story. I believe London has been beautifully portrayed in this movie like when Hugh Grant wanders through the Portobello Market. The scene which plays the famous song of Ronan Keating was also a brilliantly shot. People will certainly fall in love with this movie.

Fire strikes London's Great Ormond Street children's hospital

London's Great Ormond Street children's hospital evacuated patients and staff because of fire.

At about 0830 BST the cardiac wing was in fire and a gas cylinder explosion is suspected to start the fire. No patient has been report injured and the entire wing has been vacated.

In the rescue operation four firefighters suffered minor injuries which were treated on the scene. A team of 30 firefighters were used to get rid of the fire.

Corporate Apartments in Bloomsbury, London

I am a B.Arch student usually engrossed in designing houses, flats, apartments. I stay in Bloomsbury and often get in touch with the local estate agents. Apart from drawing lines for houses and apartments, I also prefer writing for several websites related to traveling, hotel accommodations and apartment accommodation in various parts of London, especially Bloomsbury. While browsing my articles on various websites, I came across a new website which submits articles on different aspects of London city in particular. Even the submission of press release can also be done. It is an informative London tourist website and has covered everything in a very clean manner. There was an article on corporate apartments in London which was very impressive describing every detail of it. I was also impressed to see list of accommodation in Bloomsbury.

london, after a week and a bit

wow i'm tired! and exhilirated and everything else you could possibly imagine after uprooting my entire life and moving across the world. the past week has been insane, i've moved into the halls, met loads of fantastic people and just basically starting orienting myself with this incredible city. bella had me for dinner the other night and leah and chris had me over tonight for some amazing salmon fishcakes which were absolutely to die for.

i've already done london fashion week, oxford circus, backstage at the globe, brick lane and spittlefield (?) markets, goldsmiths, grocery shopping, primark and woolworth's, et cetera et cetera. you can check my facebook for pics, which i can't do here because unfortunately i have to use public computers here usually. i will put pics here, but later.

i'm really starting to think about work work work (of course), because this running around the city listlessly can't last forever. i've got freelance articles to write and work placements to secure. i'm really hoping to do my dissertation on music and digital media's affect on it. i think it would be really interesting. as my mom says, we shall see. for right now i'm so overstimulated and worked up, it's crazy. but still trying to enjoy the moment of course. please send comments and messages - i love hearing from home. kisses and hugs.
