Happy Caturday! and it couldn't have been more perfect timing, it finally came in the mail, my Kitty Cameo necklace from Shana Logic! it's cute, it's girly, and has a tiny little cat in the middle! Which strangely resembles the cat Dinah from Alice in Wonderland, which is all fine with me!

IT'S A COOKIE-CUPCAKE! with neon frosting flowerettes and sprinkles! okay, now at that point i knew i had to have it, but with only 4 minutes left on my break and a huge line, i knew it wouldn't be easy. but, i managed to snatch up my cute, cupcakey goodness and get back to work with a minute to spare. sweet! i'm still debating whether or not i want to put it up for display, or eat it. most likely the latter. =D

also, i just liked my blue fingers/hot pink ring ratio this afternoon. =]

And to end the night somewhat perfectly, i leave work thinking i'll be getting a ride home, only to find out my manager didn't have a car! EEK! ever since the "incident" last year, i don't ever walk home alone in the dark. so as i was calling all the cab companies i could, and since Saturday night wouldn't allow me to get through, i decided to get a little crafty. conveniently, Mall Security was stopped right next to us on the street, and thought i'd ask for a lift. He caved! totally made my night. hope the rest of your weekend goes well!

Finally, a freakin' update

So I thought I'd wait almost a WHOLE year to update. Why? I have absolutely no reason. No reason at all. Wait! I just thought of a reason...I finally finished that apron. Yep, only took me ONE year. All due to procrastination. I realized long ago that this project was a bit beyond my sewing level but the point is that I finished it. Granted, it's too big and I botched a bit of the bias AND the ties but it's still done. The most important things I've learned are that sewing skills take time and being impatient does not help me one bit. I know the next project will be better. I also have a swank new digital camera so I can post some exception photos. Take a look at Kitty Boo prepping for our favorite holiday.

Sleepy kitteh

My cat, seen enjoying another nap here on my bed, is 15 years old. Aside from the fact that she is afraid of my kids and hisses at them (especially at my daughter), she is perfect. I don't even mind the hairballs. Well, maybe i could do without the hairballs but you get my point. She is super soft, polite, affectionate (to me anyway), and beautiful, with fantastic olive green eyes you can't see here.

Just before i took this picture she was moving her front paws while she slept as if she were kneading something... She must have been dreaming. How cute is that?!?! Kitty dreams...

kitty again

Kitty was put to sleep today. The vet called me at nine in the morning and asked me about what I thought. She was in constant pain, hadn't eaten on her own since at least Friday, and they were either going to have to give her an ultrasound and feeding tube or put her out of her misery. It seemed too selfish just to keep her alive for the sake of my own grief, and I agreed to the euthanasia.
Chuck came and picked me up and we got to the clinic around five pm. We sat with Kitty while the vet tech explained everything to us, I signed some forms, and I decided to get her ashes back after the cremation. It was almost more painful to see her laying there, seemingly incoherent with the pain and looking not like the kitty I've known for thirteen years than the thought of her death.
They sedated her and I was bawling. I was so worried that it would upset her, but she fell asleep peacefully and I made Chuck stay in the room while they injected her with the euthanasia. I didn't want to see her suddenly shudder and take her last breath, especially since I was so upset and I thought it was unnerving her even more than she should have been. They called me in when she had passed away, and she looked the most at peace I've seen her since she's been sick. She looked like the kitty I've known all my life, laying there cuddled in the blanket. Seeing her then made everything okay- she was obviously okay then, not in pain, not uncomfortable, not frightened.

I think I'll feel more closure when time passes and I get her ashes back. That way she can still be with me, instead of scared and lonely in a place she hasn't been in her entire life. I'll find something beautiful to put them in and then I can tell her I love her everyday. I just wish I knew for certain she understood me when I was telling her how much I loved her today and to not be scared. I think, though, that she knew what I was trying to say.

In other news, today really wasn't that bad of a day. Chuck took really great care of me even though I was being a crybaby the whole time. I feel like there's some sort of drama going on with some people around here at UNCG, but I don't want to deal with any of it right now. It doesn't really matter at all. :)

I finally got my TOEFL scores, and I have to say I did good [pretty good compared to the rest of my mates I think...] I needed a 590 score to apply to some student exchange program. I got higher scores than I thought I would get. I got a 630. I couldn't help to feel sorry for some of my friends who applied and coulnd't get the 590 they needed. That truly sucks.

Anyways... I even took a picture of my test results that I'll show you in this blog.

Yesterday I bought some of my favorite Ice Breakers mints at Target. I don't know why I love them. I just do. I like living in the border because I don't have to buy all of my stuff here, I can always get out of the country and do my shopping somewhere else.

Yesterday I went to the [american] Sanrio and I spend $20 dollars on a pocket mirror, a mechanical pencil, a pencil shapener [for the three pencils I bought here, not for a mechanical pencil because that would be retarded] and a big ass plush toy. See the difference?.

I also went to Vans, and Hot Topic. Geez.... I need to grow up a little [not really].

big kitty

Kitty has a blood parasite and her liver is messed up. She's been staying overnight at the vet since Friday and they say she's going to be okay. I went and visited her Saturday when I also took Romulus to get checked out (who is fine btw) and she looked almost 10 times better. I'm still really worried about her and I wish I could be there to make her feel safe. She's an old kitty cat, so I guess this stuff happens. The vet's office says they'll call me on Monday morning and tell me how things are going.

Mr. Lavender has given me a two cat limit, I have three.
We take the best care of our lovely kittens that we can. They are each wonderful cats in their own way and they are all little shits. They do not get along. I did not capture a good photo of Helios, she is my 15lb orange and white tabby, she is a total cranky bitch and I love every ounce of piss and vinegar. We have had her for 9 and a half years. Then there is Mr. Bones, he is old. I found him almost dead in someone's garden on a photowalk one day, and I could not let him die alone. I knew he was a neighborhood stray as we used to feed him on the back porch. I brought him home a few weeks after the passing of my other cat Twilight (XO, I still miss her, she died when all the pet food was being recalled Grrrrr) Mr. Bones is much better now, he gained a few pounds and has trained us quite nicely. His back legs are pretty messed up, he cannot jump or climb, he can barely walk. He Rows when he wants up on the couch and we pick him up, he lounges on the couch all day. And we come to Luna(tic), I fell victim to the "free kitten" sign. She climbed up to my neck and would not let go, she found a home. She LOVES to play, if anything moves it is her prey. I love them all so much.
Since we lost our sweet twilight last year during the cat food recall thing, we decided to make our own cat food. Helios lost a few pounds and became less cranky, Mr. Bones began to heal, and luna is coming up on two years and is barely mellowed. We use all organic local ingredients. Expensive, but our cats are healthy and we know they are not eating poison.

Now I would like to wish HOMEBODY A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
May today and the next year bring you Joy, Love, happiness, candy, hugs, goodness, kindness, light, cupcakes, purrs from kittens, safety, comfort, sweetness, music, dance, cotton candy, poetry, and much much more!!!

Joshua 24:15--

“…Choose you this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Joshua overtook the ministry of Moses to the newly-freed nation of Israel, the people of God. If you’re not fresh on the story, the book of Joshua tells perhaps the bloodiest part of Israeli history, and makes for rather challenging discussions here in our home. Ideas of holy war, in the truest sense, as well as hard and sometimes impossible work God has fashioned us for: these things are central themes of Joshua. When he was at the end of his ministry, Joshua challenged the people of God to pick sides: serve the idols of their vanquished enemies, or serve the One true and living God who fought for them and their fledgling nation.

It was issued when Joshua was, as we Americans think of it, in “retirement age.” The challenge itself was testimony to the vigor and vitality of this warriors’ leader, and carried with it the sentiment that as long as he had breath, he’d be busy about the LORD’s business. “Don’t count me out, I’m still in this until I drop,” in other words.

The challenge stands, for those of all ages, and reminds me of a visitor we recently had in our home: Tasha’s Grandma Kitty.

Growing up, I had no grandparents save one. My mother’s mom, her name was Olympia. She was funny, sweet, showed me how to wring a chicken’s neck, grow purple potatoes called “Ube” (translation: “Yummy”), loved me dearly and spoke no English. She only spoke her native Tagalog. Of Tagalog, I spoke perhaps 5 words (well, besides the numbers from 1-20, but does that count?). The long and short of it is that she passed away and I only knew her briefly. What memories I have of her are cherished, but having no idea what she thought made relationship difficult. My dad’s parents passed away before I was born (or when I was a suckling), and I have only the tale of how they died in a car accident to tie me to them. For some reason or other, my dad had no tales to tell.

In the sweet Providence of the Lord, Tasha had her full set of grandparents when I married her. They were, the lot of them, pure treasure to me. As the years and the Curse has dragged on, however, only Kitty remains.

From day one, I was intimidated by Tasha’s grandparents, being told that they were “old-fashioned,” and Tasha herself wasn’t sure how they’d receive me (more on this later). The long and short of it: Kitty was the fountainhead of grace to us on the heels of our elopement at 19. She put together a reception for us once we returned from Lake Tahoe. We were a scandal from the start, but her open arms and genuine smile wiped away any fears I had of being welcome.

Over the years, Kitty has remained a constant beacon of hope for us (again: more later). She’s encouraged, conversed with us, maintained more than a modicum of interest in our goings-on, and has loved our children.

Our recent visit saw this Renaissance woman open wide her bag of tricks as she shared lessons on oil painting, some kitchen tips, sewing techniques (the girls all have aprons, even Jess and Jamie!), and gladly shared with us wisdom that her long years and time spent in the study of God’s Word bestows. We were a glad and willing audience, wishing only that time could stretch on to years, and we hoped that she’d stay with us longer (ever the selfish ones!).

Hearing how she spent her early years, how her childhood was, how she met her husband (who is sorely missed), how she loves Christ and wants to share the Good News of having a genuine peace with God with those she loves and meets…these are tales that life is made of. We wrapped ourselves in the comfort of her presence, like a blanket in the middle of an Idaho winter. Having her here to teach the kids some of her arts and crafts (I wished she could’ve taught Jake and me some welding technique…seriously…she learned that in WWII, and how cool is that?!) and the tour through her meticulous memory was priceless.

Lord willing, we’ll have her to treasure for many years to come.

Kitty is a lovely woman, a stockpile of rubies (Pr. 31), a delight to the senses. Her dedication to those she loves, especially to share with them the Gospel news of Christ, is an encouragement and example to the young and foolish folk like myself who have yet so much to learn.

‘Till next year, then, I know she’ll be found bringing that same meticulously kept history to those with ears to listen, and her God-given unwavering dedication to be about Our Father’s business of proclaiming the name and fame of Jesus Christ. If you ever get the chance to meet her, take note how the Gospel transforms her face from that of a matriarch of 8 decades into the face of a little girl, the new creature that she is in the presence of the Ancient of Days: the Father who gives new life even to those of “retirement age.”

Choose you this day whom you will serve; as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD, the God of Kitty Clair.

She's getting... a cyst removed from her eye, a cyst removed from her lip, and a cyst removed from her back. They are also redoing her spay stitches, which haven't been healing properly. The vet said that because Rottweilers are prone to cancer, she wanted to remove the little back and lip cysts even though they are currently not posing any problems. I already love this new vet, who was recommended to me by a friend.

It is raining today. So begins months and months of drizzle in the Northwest.

Also, I want to go see Nick Cave, but it's on a school night. I can go, please?

Welcome to Suki

Suki is our new - or third - cat. And for once, we were able to choose a name sounding Asian but not Disney.

You : So where this name come from ?

Me : From 'Suzuki', the motorbike manufacturer, with a syllable cut it sounds better

You : Suzuki... You ran out of inspiration that day ?

Me : Not quite, but Honda didn't sound too good

You : What's wrong with you guys and the motorbikes brands ?

Me : I do ride a Honda and Quynh a Suzuki

You : Uhm...

Me : We found Suki in our garage. She probably fell off a kind of mezzanine and her 3 weeks experience in life would not help her much. We could not leave it there, didn't find her mother... so it arrived home.

The below pictures were taken in Victoria Phan Thiet, they look better than usual, thanks to Mr. Hanno for lending me his great lens.

Our two other monsters are Mimi (main actor of quite an adventure lately) and Nina, Mimi's mother.

"Suki" est notre 3eme chat(te). Ceux qui ont vu cette petite video, auront sans doute deja remarque que pour une fois, le nom du chaton ne sonne pas trop Disney. Ok, ca sonne quand meme bien japonais.

Ce vient de Suzuki, la marque de la moto de Julie, car on a trouve le petit chaton abandonne dans notre garage. Elle a a peu pres 4 semaines maintenant.

Apres Nina en septembre 2004, Mimi en Septembre 2006 et enfin Suki en Septembre 2008 ; il y a fort a parier qu'on se retrouve avec une autre chatte en septembre 2010... Pari tenu.

Les photos ont ete prises au resort Victoria de Phan Thiet, et Julie et moi remercions M. Hanno non seulement pour son accueil mais aussi de nous avoir preter son objectif. D'ailleurs je vais mettre ca sur ma commande au Pere Noel cette annee.
