Saturday night at the Etowah mounds

Okay..so these are a day later than promised..but here are some pics of my Saturday night at the Etowah Indian Mounds They have (at least) one event each year after-hours, and believe me when I say that, much like Six Flags, it's a different park after dark. Here's a volunteer craftsman showing how...

My old camera has a good home...and I've found a good use for the TV

My sister-in-law bought my old camera today. She and her dog Winder came up today to pick it up, and since Winder LOVES attention, I had my new camera ready. The challenge here is to capture just ONE image with Winder's tongue NOT hanging out. I don't believe it can be done. Everybody was showered...

Life in London... never boring

So, a few strange things that have happened to me while here: Was sitting in a cafe having a snack with Ksenia when this man asked if anyone was sitting next to us. Was initially uneventful, but then he leaned over and asked, "are you American?" Then he proceeded to ask us what a redneck was, and...

My biscuit tin :D

I suppose putting my money in a saving account would make more sense. I mean, that's what grown-ups do, right? Anyway, I had been saving up toward the camera which was to be my Christmas present, but ended up being more of an anniversary present thanks to a generous relative. That means my biscuit...

The Nothing Song- Sigur Ros

Sometimes you don't really know how beautiful something is, until its gone forever... "The Nothing Song" ( njosvalin) by Sigur Ros. This song which is sung in a language invented by the band just goes on to show how music has the power to go beyond the limitations of mere words. Listen to the song...

QotD: Lost and Found

What have you lost that you wish you could get back? Submitted by, Witch Hazel My childhood journals and artwork. It was all lost in floods and fires. :( Everything from high school and before was lost, which is really sad. When I was in college and graduate school, it would have been nice to have...

Electric Sunstroke

Why "Electric Sunstroke"?

The term "electric sunstroke" came from the book The Word Museum by Jeffrey Kacirk. The book is compiled of English words that are no longer used. "Electric sunstroke" is nothing more than a heat stroke; I thought the phrase sounded much cooler and decided that if I ever had a band, I'd name it...

The not-so-great "Master of Disguise"

There was a time when I just used to be myself... I'm sure a lot of people looked down on me as a stupid, dumb kid but I continued doing the same things probably because at that age, you really don't realize or perhaps, understand what exactly an "image" is. Then as I kept growing, my consciousness...

Pathetic, is how I'd like to put it.

OK, For the past few days I've been pathetic as far as communicating my thoughts are concerned. There's so much going on inside me... sometimes I just wish I could communicate it... but I can't. Ah well, I guess even geniuses have flaws.

Journalling

I keep an offline journal, as well as this one. Just a book I can take with me wherever I go. I've always sort of journaled, ever since I was a little kid and my mom gave me a red, spiral bound notebook and was like "Here, this is your diary. You can write whatever you want in it." At first, it was...

Ok, this is my first blog. In the past, I have blogged with Myspace (deleted that bitch yesterday), Blogger, Wordpress, Live Journal (no comment), and then back to Blogger...now I'm here. Good things

I got a nice bit of news today. A well-to-do relative of my husbands whom I've never even met was advised to lower his taxable assets before the end of the year. The long and short of it is that Pooky, his sister and his parents all got a very generous gift from said relative. Some time soon..and by...

tangy yogurt and gocco

I had a pretty fun weekend. First on Saturday, one of my best friends and I went downtown to eat at Teaism, our new favorite restaurant, and we went to tangy sweet. If you've never had tangy sweet, pink berry, or mr. yogato, you must go if there is one in your area! It is so good! My BF and I...

When words fail you...

Emotionally drained. I feel exhausted. I feel alone. I feel things I can't describe in words and some that I choose not to... Sometimes I wish I could turn back time. I feel it's a pointless run. I feel shattered. I feel dead. I feel there are some things I will never understand... and some that I...

London town

So I'm here. It's surreal and amazing. It's also cold and rainy. But hey, it's freakin' LONDON. The first couple of days were a bit disorienting since I live in a totally posh neighborhood surrounded by embassies and million pound homes. But once I made the trip to see Oxford Street, Tottenham Court...
