So far it has rained 5 out of 7 days. Wes has gone to preschool 3 days for 2 hours each day. The twins are as different as day and night. Bryce is a little lover and Brenna is hell on wheels. Then there is 12 year old Destiny. She is a wonderful 12 year old. Both feet on the ground and actual goals in her life. It is so nice to see someone her age actually wanting to be more then a party animal. In all the kids are just wonderful and enough to keep you busy every waking moment.
The photos are my first attemps with my new camera. I like what I saw but there are so many more things this camera will do when I figure it all out. I love the pictures of the wild flowers that I took. They are right in front of the house and many other interesting things yet to come. The queen ann's lace is just about everyones favorite picture that I have taken so far. I also liked the other two flowers were not bad and I am still working on my layouts. I have to start someplace so this is where I am now.

sleep is one of those past times that, if collectible, i would be at the swap meet every day with tons of knick-knacks to sell. that being said, it tends to be a light sleep and probably an hour or so before i finally relinquish the subconscious to the conscious and therefore the darkness to the illumination of opening my eyelids, i hear almost everything. that isn't to say that i necessarily identify the slams, clamors and bangs with exactitude and precision.
for example, as i was in the early dozings of the marine-layered morning that is so typical of san diego with its coolness that exudes a tranquility but is simply a ruse for the summer that is beset upon us, i kept hearing a repetitive sound (was it outside? inside?) of something strikingly similar to one sopping up a large puddle of water with a not-so-dry towel in the bathroom. this could be a possibility at the place that i'm lodging at for the time being until shannon returns. there are cats, dogs and people galore with baths and water typically utilized extensively. perhaps one of the cats needed a flea bath and given the feline's natural abhorrence to water produced quite the mess for one of my roommates to then mop.
as i was ruminating half-awake on this possibility, the noise shifted direction and no longer did it seem to be coming from indoors. it was a constant click, more refined now and discernible. the night slumber was quickly fading, i knew it, but still i rustled with the sheets in an almost pretend sleep. i had it: someone was pruning a bush or chopping a hedge. snip. snip. snip. with the clear slicing din of the shears immediately brought back memories of when i was still a pre-teen and was forced to mow the lawn every week. how i despised the notion of being out there. getting sweaty and ruining my clothes. the smell of the fumes from the lawn mower made me nauseous and well, i just didn't want to do it because my step-father told me that i had no choice.
along with the years going by and the color of the front door constantly being repainted (as my mother loved to change colors more often than a chameleon would), i began to get used to doing the lawn. in fact, by the time that i left the house for greater evangelistic ops in brooklyn at 19, i was looking forward to getting out in the slightly overgrown blades of grass and even though we had a riding mower for the half-acre, i insisted on mowing everything with the pusher. the straight lines and precision did something for me. like a golf course. the trimming of hedges and maintenance of the grounds was something pleasurable now. perhaps the psychosis was setting in and the obsessive-compulsive behavior was unavoidable especially in a household where everything had to at least look perfect.
it made me think as i opened my eyes that i would like to have some type of garden or yard to take care of. will it be possible to have such a thing in london? or is that still only available to aristocracy or simply be knighted - which doesn't appear to have the equality to the prior any longer.
the sounds are gone now and all i hear are the endless pecks of the keyboard and the nagging voice inside telling me to get up...i have flowers to pick for the wedding to be with renee in a couple of hours.
Wow, I can't believe that I did yard work! I'm not talking about mowing the grass or weed-eating or edging, I'm talking about digging holes and planting flowers and bushes. I've always been intimidated by it because I thought it was so hard. Well, YES, it is hard work digging through very hard dirt with old roots in it, but its not so scientific that I can't figure out what I want to do with my yard. I even installed a small fountain. I think I'm proud of myself too. Oh yea, and the sweat rolling into my eyes and burning like fire is something I never get used to even after miles and miles of running with it. I think I even got dirt in my eye - only I could do something that goofy. So here are some images of my very beginnings in the green thumb group.

I came down to the city yesterday because my city baby is sick again. He doesn't even want his grammy this time. I haven't taken any pictures so this one is from last month. I have tried growing these in the country, but haven't had much success. May have to try again.
My interview at the hospital is this afternoon. Then I will probably go home. Have to stop somewhere and look for some shutters. And pick up a few groceries.
Talked to hubby this morning. He said it is raining again. That is very unusual for us in July. As a general rule, we get very little rain in July. Bet I will have to pick beans and zucchini when I get home. Can't wait to work on the homespun quilt!
]]>I picked up some pastel card stock at the stationer down the street for lack of better origami supplies on a Sunday night. Most all retail shuts down on Sundays, especially if it’s after 5 or 6pm. Since then, I picked up some proper origami paper at Cass Art in Islington.
A friend took me there and it was great! They were having a big sale and I picked up some very random art supplies at some great prices –10p brushes!! I was a bit embarrassed because the guy doing the sale said I picked up the oddest things…modeling clay, sharpies, feathers, miniature canvases, envelopes/note paper, watercolor pencils, origami paper, brushes, a sharpener, black paper pad, an acetate sheet and a couple of white color pencils.

When we first started dating, I asked Kate what her favorite flower was, and she didn't know. So I followed up by sending her flowers to help her decide (the 2nd set she had gotten that week--but that is neither here nor there). Anyway, it worked. She's my wife and sitting right beside me as I type. Of course, some other things had to fall into place, but it was probably mostly the flowers.
So when we woke up Saturday morning, Kate asked if I wanted to go to a monster truck rally, but instead I insisted that we visit the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, south of Belmont, N.C.
It was awesome! Definitely worth the $10 (especially if you have a wife who likes flowers--and I would imagine that anyone who has a wife also has a wife who likes flowers). So I've found out recently that $10 can buy you a crazy huge bouquet from the Farmers Market or two hours of sight-seeing flowers out in the country.
Those in the Wray Family will recognize this as the place where Dan and Amy got married. What a beautiful place for a wedding!
Since that 2nd date, Kate has decided her favorite flower is the orchid, of which there were many, and now has another favorite (though we couldn't find the name of it). Anyway, everybody had a good time, and I even somehow managed to emerge as masculine as before.

I'm trying, to do everything I can be a website editor. Despite making it up as I go along. I'm trying to make sure things go smoothly and work well. Despite people letting me down and changing their plans and NOT GIVING A FUCK. I'm trying really hard to do something really good. All of this would be a lot fucking easier if I didn't have agonising stomach cramps. And trying not to burst into tears at my desk doesn't fucking help either.
