Easter 2008

It was Carter's first Easter but I doubt he'll remember any of it. We hid the eggs and goodies in the backyard and Tyler had fun hunting for them. The finale was a huge Spiderman Easter basket for Tyler which he tore through in about thirty seconds! I ate hard boiled eggs for the next few days.

Friday's Here But Sunday's Comin!

It is always a surprise to me when Easter comes in March. I just looked at my calendar and realised it's coming a week from tomorrow! Easter came as a surprise to believers in Bible times as well. No matter how many times the Lord told them that He would die and rise again the third day - they...

PURIM

This morning I looked at my calendar and realized that as I have been preparing my heart for Easter, I missed two important dates. Thursday, March 20 was the first day of Spring. It also began the Jewish holiday of Purim at sundown. This takes us back to the book of Esther - which I think would be...

Hell was embittered!

A glorious Pascha! Christ Is Risen! One of my godchildren, (in his 50's, about 4 years old) who had stopped attending church about 2 years ago, decided to return, and started coming to Lenten services during the final 3 weeks of the fast. He was calling me often during the week, sometimes talking...

This is to whet you're pallet, but I'll write more soon! John 20:3-7 Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went towards the tomb. Happy (Orthodox) Easter for this weekend

Happy Easter to Sally and Chef Jonny and I am guessing Patricia. The kids' babysitter and dear friend to our family, Maria, brought us some Greek Easter biscuits this morning. I could tell without tasting them that they were much lighter than normal Greek biscuits. She said she used her mother's...

The Miracle of the Holy Fire in Jerusalem by Niels Christian Hvidt "On Holy Saturday believers gather in great crowds in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. I had over a week off from school and decided that it would be a good time to visit Rebecca. Every year over Easter Ísafjörður, the "capital" of...
