More!!!

So very proud of myself, I knitted TWO (2) beanies last night!!! I'm pretty tired today because I stayed up late to finish it. I was just going to "start" a 2nd beanie, but then Good Will Hunting came on, and I'm a HUGE Matt Damon fan, so I was watching and before I knew it the 2nd one was done and...

Tortillas and Omega nylon thread

Living in London without corn tortillas is hard! Most of my diet consisted of corn tortillas and I didn’t even know it. Now my diet consists of pasta, pizza, fried chicken and the occasional fish. Oh man, that’s why I was thrilled to get a package from back home in El Paso, TX! Did I mention I...

Books and Clutter

I'm reading a book called "DO IT: Let's Get Off Our Butts." I don't remember buying the book. I found it in my living room when I was looking for something else. And I thought it was the universe telling me to read it. I may have picked it up at a used bookstore off the sale table but there are no...

Duchess Kitty Pattern

The Duchess Kitty crochet pattern is finally finished. You know how sometimes a project drags on and you just can't seem to complete it? That's what happened with Duchess. Anyway, she's finally finished, and the crochet pattern is available in my Etsy shop for $3.00. If it is sold out, just send me...

Crochet pattern suggestions anyone?

There are lots of crochet patterns for toys out there, but is there a pattern you wish someone would write? Is there an animal or object you would like to see in crochet? It can be anything at all.

airplane crochet and the quest for dutch yarn

I opted to crochet on the a irplane rather than knit. I kept hearing horror stories about kntting being confiscated, plus crochet is easier to stop in the middle. I made most of a totally utilitarian dishcloth, I only needed to look up how to do crab stitch once we got here. I also started the...

MIA no more, and other yarn news

I can't believe it's been over a month since I updated this blog. I've been busy. See the pictures? The bobble stitch sampler top needs assembly and some relatively minor finishing work, like adding the neck and sleeve borders. The Crystal Palace Bamboozle (this color is "Ember Glow") works up...

I haven't updated my Vox for aaaaages. I should have posted that I moved my blog over to this address: http://cutedesigns.blogspot.com I like Vox but I couldn't quite do everything I wanted to do at that time, maybe I can now, I'll have to investigate but I may have a look around at some of the...

Summer time hat

I made a this really cute hat today! I found the pattern on Ravelry.com. The picture is the one from the free pattern, I'll post my hat in the morning when the light is better. I think next time I'll do it in cotton instead of the acrylic and see if it made the hat a bit less floppy. I like floppy....

so who should I root for? america or one of those other countries I learned about in the food court?

Today I found out about a wonderfully wonderful knitting event, the Ravelympics! Basically, it's a free-for-all where knitters/crocheters/spinners/etc. pick crafty events to participate in. You can't start the project(s) until the opening ceremony, and you have to finish before the closing ceremony....

Things I have learned about Life by Crocheting

1) With patience, you can have beautiful things one small stitch at a time. 2) Quick and easy is good for the soul once in a while, but too much makes one sick. 3) Don't give up when something is hard to do, but don't be afraid to set them aside for a time. 4) Remember to finish what you have...

operation washcloth

I was possessed by the washcloth urge on Sunday, as I often seem to be. I crocheted two of the Practically Hyperbolic Dishcloth while at Boba, and promptly gave them to Anabel for her girls. The wee one was interested in it while I was making it so I thought it might entertain her while Anabel got...

Blacklisted and finding the balance between science and art

I think I've been subtly blacklisted. The two times that I've seen Martin since I moved out of his place has been awkward and no conversation or recognition of each other's presence has been noted. He was always the one to invite me to outtings and now I feel, I've been just quietly forgotten. I'm...

Here it is!

I finished the hat this morning, complete with chin strap and ears. They’ll add a buckle for the chin strap themselves. I was up until 3 am working on the ears, and this is the result. I noticed in the notes they gave me that a little brown was requested. So, I used one strand of brown in the...

I’m Spoiled this Week!

I have 2 new magazines and a cool Japanese crochet book to add to my collection! Yes! I can’t say I’m that impressed with the Interweave Crochet mags, and am wondering why I purchased them as I rarely use patterns anyway. Oh well, maybe they’ll be inspirational. I finally made it to K1 Yarns...
