Golden Ray mass migration

Looking like giant leaves floating in the sea thousands of Golden Rays are seen here gathering off the coast of Mexico. The spectacular scene was captured as the magnificent creatures made one of their biannual mass migrations to more agreeable waters.

Yearly i now drive 750 miles, walking and skating more. Yearly i trash only about 12 pounds, recycling and reusing the rest. Weekly i carpool to the Public Market, buying and eating food less traveled. Yet for these and much more i do and don't do, saving an extra percent off my meager waste makes little difference compared to teaching and motivating others to join me and other one-percenters. A recent survey about dishwashing habits revealed a 30-fold ratio in the water consumed and a 20-fold ratio in the detergent consumed between the most wasteful and most frugal washers. The most wasteful used more water, energy, and detergent than a dishwashing machine. Convincing those this wasteful to save just a few percent would exceed my total consumption, let alone a few extra percent by my frugal self. Photojournalism and photography can be for me one way to contribute and inspire, as this post inspires me.

Greeting Card Contest

I wanted to get the word out to all of my artsy friends. The TUT Adventurers Club, home of Notes From The Universe, is running a greeting card contest: Back in September, 2007, we created an e-card contest, inviting TUT Adventurers to submit their own personal artwork or photography showcasing their favorite Note from the Universe. We ended up receiving thousands of entries and some of the most remarkable e-cards we’ve ever seen (Ecards). It was then that we realized, without a doubt, that we have some of the most creative and talented artists of all time in our very own TUT community. That realization immediately sparked the next idea – printed, paper greeting cards! How fantastic would it be to showcase the BEST cards that our combined energies can muster, while discovering new artists and creating an avenue for the expression of their incredible gifts? And so, here we are, excited to announce that we are choosing 12 card designs to share with the world in printed form
