When an animal's skin is cut or wounded, there is an increased risk of infection. Pyoderma refers to a bacterial infection of the skin that is very common in dogs, but uncommon in cats. Lesions and pustules (inflamed pus filled swelling) on the skin, and in some cases partial hair loss often characterize the infection. Treatment is typically given on an outpatient basis and prognosis is good.
]]>Acral lick dermatitis is a firm, raised, ulcerative, or thickened plaque usually located on the back side of the wrist, on the ankle, or between the toes. This disease primarily affects dogs, and most commonly large breeds, especially Doberman pinschers, Labrador retrievers, great Danes, Irish and English setters, golden retrievers, Akitas, Dalmatians, shar-peis, and weimaraners.

]]>Matchmaker-When I got my male cat "Kitty", he seemed lonely. I convinced my husband that he needed a girlfriend. So.... I searched on the internet locally and found a cute female cat. I let Kitty see her picture, he seemed to agree. Off I went to pick up his internet bride. She was beautiful. She was already named "Tigerlily" so that's what we called her. Kitty was so happy and curious. He was showing off. He was jumping on high shelves and following her everywhere. It was so cute! Now they sleep together and clean each other, its so beautiful to watch them.
