I was looking for some info on the old DDR and found this song. I remembered the series of events that led to the collapse of communism reached their zenith during these months in the old DDR and around Eastern Europe almost 20 years ago (next year will be 20). I was only 15 then but I still remembered vividly what it was like listening to the BBC & VOA in secret with my family about those events back home. It was amazing to hear Vietnamese students in the DDR describing those events on the BBC & VOA. The hopes & dreams of freedom and the aspirations for a better future in their voices are soo genuine it couldn't help but also inspired the same hopes & dreams in the people back home. It was an exciting time. I remembered imagining how exciting it must have been to be there, among those people, when it happened... My mom probably wouldn't have let me out of the house even if we lived in the DDR then... I was still a kid... But somehow, I knew I would have sneaked out of the house and wouldn't have missed any of it for the world... This song brings me back to that time... Especially these lines...
